No team should offer Kanter or Thompson the max.

If anyone offers Thompson more than $12M per year, I would rather the Cavs just let him walk.

Green is possibly a max, but I really wouldn't feel great about that as a Warriors fan, and no other team should consider it.

Kawhi Leonard does deserve a max, and while I am sure he will stay with the Spurs, I would also make the offer if I was the Sixers or Celtics.

Kanter might not be great defensively, but wasn't dude putting up 18/13 or something nutty on OKC even with Westbrook taking up a bunch of shots?

He is a great offensive rebounder that will get you more possessions in a game as well. I think he is worth it.

I know. He wont be cheap for OKC and with the cap raising he will probably ask for the max.

I mean look at Chandler Parsons contract

The first 3 for sure especially Draymond. Enes is one of the worst defenders ive ever seen, he makes Amare look like KG

Kawhi Leonard because he probably has the most upside. Green needs to knock down his 3's more consistently and I would consider it.

Tristan and Kanter aren't max players.

18.7/11 (5 orpg) on .566. Small sample, though if he kept up that 5 mark next season, it would be one of 25 NBA seasons (10 players, including him) to average 5 or more offensive boards. At least says basketball ref. Probably 26 seasons since Drummond has done that the last two seasons, so likely next year again.

I asked which teams should offer them the max. Not who was deserving.

Please, because he became the 2nd option with Westbrook was the reason he blew up. Westbrook was ecstatic to finally have someone who knew how to run pick and roll offense, and how do you think he averaged 8.5 assists last season with Durant hurt most the year?

But yeah, his defense is pathetic, probably even worse than David Lee's

I would not max him, but he's gonna get paid. The only guy that absolutely deserves the max amongst these 4 is Kawhi. I'd max him for the Knicks EASILY :(

Every team needs 3 and D guys in today's NBA, so Kawhi and Green take this easily. Tristan, maybe the Heat ? Kanter, OKC.

Wish Raps got either Kawhi or Green or both.... would be huge upgrades.

what's max? 12mil/y? 15mil/y? 20mil/y? their respective salary increase 20%? 30%?

stop throwing max around, when some bums got max offer, doesnt mean u should start throwing max salary around to any player.
Leonard worth around 12mil/y.
green seriously speaking 10-11mil/y.
TT 10mil/y.
Kanter 8-10mil/y.

stop using those overpaid contract as standard.
do u have any idea how much 12mil and what does that mean to a team?
u have to be able to generate 12mil+ back to the company as ur individual value.
ppl buy tickets to see kobe/lbj. u think ppl buy tickets to TT? He's role player that supports the team.

Kanter's numbers are totally irrelevant considering how god awful he is on defense. Seriously the worst defender I've seen in years, at the position where defense is at its most important. All the numbers back it up as well.
[QUOTE]On many nights, Kanter looks imposing and like a guy who deserves a lucrative deal. But look closer, and you can see the defensive limitations that puts a strain on his team

Him getting the max would be an absolute joke.

He doesnt deserve it, but I honestly think he will get solid offers this year. Notice the people in OP are all questionable maxes. (Kawhi included but only because the Spurs hesitated to max him and might lowball him again if they can away with it)

Leonard I expect to re-sign with the Spurs, so if I were a GM I would not offer him a max UNLESS I had tons of money to throw around. I wouldn't want that offered deal holding back any other signings.

No other player deserves the max, but you asked who should, so I'll try to play that little game.

Green would be good on the Bulls, Lakers, Knicks, Heat, Pacers, Kings... List goes on. But the Knicks are the only team that should consider it. Again, Green doesn't deserve the max, but at least the Knicks already have a star in place. Green is not a #1 option/star, but rather one of the best supporting players in the league. Should go to a roster with a star in place.

Thompson and Kanter, I can't even joke about them getting the max. That would be a travesty. Won't entertain that beyond saying... Thompson should go to a team that lacks hustle and heart and/or misses a lot of shots (Knicks, Bobcats, Lakers, Nets etc) whereas Kanter should go to a team that is strong defensively but needs an inside presence on offense (Bulls? Pacers?).

Some of those players getting the max will look like a deal in a couple of years when the new cap rises and rises.
