View Full Version : Isn't strange that the only members from the 2010 Lakers still in the NBA are...

Kobe & Gasol? The rest of that championship roster are out of the league. Odd.

Not really, outside of those two the rest were average to below average players.

You simply cannot put "Adam Morrison" and "mediocre" in the same sentence. If anything, Adam is an NBA legend. One of the GOATs. Brian Scalabrine level.

Luke was on a contract and had no takers. Morrison came in on a deal that was expiring and they got rid of Vladimir Radmonivic contract. The Morrison deal brought Shannon brown who played a role in the title wins. Not like they were trying to get Morrison

Basically the same for Cleveland's 2010 roster. Outside of LeBron, there are a few still in the league but not starting/making much noise.

Lakers with Kobe never won a title like the Warriors and the Spurs did on the last years with an all around stacked team. It was always 2 stars (Kobe and Gasol or Shaq) with some contributors and role players.
So it's not really surprising that those guys wouldn't play well elsewhere.

Ummm 5 years ago is a pretty long time. Not really anything notable.

They certainly were never as "stacked" as people continue to say here and they did have their hurdles in the west. They barely squeaked by the Suns or Thunder, who were also amazing that season and could have easily made it to the finals (Thunder did make it two seasons later).

Artest truly vindicated himself that year in game 7. Was happy to see him win after what he went through in the league with that infamous brawl. That ring was a big F U to David Stern.

Kardashians must be hell. One brother is a alcoholic, Lamar became a drug addict and their step dad has declared he's a woman

In a year, (5 years) how many Mavs players from 2011 will still be playing? Nearly of those guys are out of the league or will retire in a year.

The average NBA career length is 4.8 years (http://www.ramfg.com/RAM-Financial-Group-Solutions-Professional-Athletes-Athletes-Services), so...

Kobe is symbolically in the league and getting a paid.

He has been MIA since 2011.

He's pretty much out of the league and just a figure head for the lakers organization.

What's the average length of an NBA career, 5 or 6 years?

Show some respect. Those "mediocre" white players have as many rings as LeBron.

That team was 2010s version of the 2015 Cavs.
Excellent work Kobe.

Not really all that shocking to me personally. It's why I laughed at people who claimed the 2008-2010 Lakers were stacked. Maybe if Bynum was actually ever healthy and as good as he was in 2011, and if Ron Artest was still in his prime, then you could say they were stacked, but outside of their superstar Kobe and their good #2 option All-Star Gasol, the team just wasn't very talented when you break it down.

Kobe- along with LeBron, arguably the best player in the league.

Gasol- top 15 player, had a solid regular season and a great playoff run.

Artest- shell of his former self. Don't get me wrong his defense was still pretty good but his man-to-man D meant little in a 2-4 series, and we're talking about perhaps the worst offensive starting SF in the league, he was a liability on that end of the court.

Odom- struggled all season and played like an average role player compared to the solid 3rd fiddle he was in '09.

Fisher- probably the worst starting PG in the league by that point.

Bynum- he played a role but it was hardly anything to write home about. He was riddled with injuries and played limited minutes, averaged 9/6 i the playoffs.

Lakers bench- amongst the worst in the league

24th ranked 3-point shooing team in the league.
