View Full Version : Can someone ELI5 why Kobe has by far the most trolls of all time?

Why is this?
No other player in history has had more people who log on and pretend to be huge fans just to annoy people.
Is it because they know overrating Kobe will get under peoples' skin the best?
Or is there something else about Kobe that makes him the most popular subject matter for online trolls?
It would be one thing if they were at least pretending to be real fans, you know, trying to make legitimate arguments backed up by stats, comparisons to other great players, etc.
But that's not really what they are about. They are about trying to annoy other people online by any means possible.
Why did all these people latch onto Kobe and not another random player?

A wild Kobe troll appeared!
Some classic examples of the stereotypical Kobe troll.
1. More worried about tearing down other great players rather than boosting Kobe's case.
ie. notice all the 2/6 talk about LeBron, and how his post immediately referenced LeBron rather than just making a case of why Kobe is a great player.
2. Lack of proper spelling and grammar. They know that this is a common pet peeve for people, so they add that in there for an extra kick.

I guess it's just that his fans have a similar personality to him.
What I'm trying to say is that his fans are also intense insecure sociopathic sexual predators with huge egos. The difference is Kobe uses it to gets rings and these guys get ISH points.

Some classic examples of the stereotypical Bran troll.
1. Talk shit until june.
2. More worried about kobe fans than lebron or kobe himself.
3. Lack of proper everything.

Because the f-ggots who troll have no ability to do the things you described. Some are legit batshit when it comes to Kobe Bryant, absolutely delusional. I don't think those are as bad as the full-time trolls, but they are, something.
I think one of the biggest reasons is the fact that this forum tolerates the shit.
It's a ****ing joke at times. ESPN pre-2014 got better discussion than this ****ing place.
A place like RealGm doesn't really tolerate Kobe fans. They ranked Kobe was low as #13 all-time(I don't agree btw) and Kobe fans are hunted down and ganged up on, on their player comparison board. It is what it is.

And see this is what I'm trying to figure out, and was hoping you all could help shed some light on. I'm legitimately asking because I'm curious - I'm not being sarcastic or anything.
So does someone like this guy here, for example, ACTUALLY believe the words that he types? Like, if we just ran into this guy on the street and started talking random basketball, would he be like, "OMG bran fans can go suk a *** cux Kobe has more rangs than Bran Kobe top two all time?"
OR
Would he be just like any other semi-intelligent NBA fan, talking about legitimate NBA topics and providing actual input? Then just goes home and takes on the alter-ego online for entertainment purposes?

Gimmie a break OP, you have a flare for the dramatic i'll give you that, but stop acting like Bron stans wouldn't have been going ham right now on Laker/Kobe fans alike about how LBJ carried this Team on his back, has more FMVPs than Kobe or any other shit they claim that's so clear cut like Lebron > Kobe , yet they feel the need to announce it to the world everytime Lebron does something Kobe hasn't.
If it was so clear cut you wouldn't need to keep reassuring one's self. At least Kobe stans take their licks and keep it movin, these fuccs go on suicide watch and don't return til Lebron restacks the deck in his favor.

Might just be me, but your post reads like a jilted Bran boi that's upset with another finals loss. :confusedshrug:
Blaming Kobe stans for LeBron's failures might help you sleep at night, but in the end, it won't sweep any said failures under the rug.

This is still better than 2008-2011..
At the time Kobe stans had martial law imposed on ISH..LeStans were hunted down and bullied into leaving.....when Lakers won the 'ship in 2010...there were over 3000 poster online....most of them Kobe stans....they outnumbered others like 40:1 or something.
Some of the most hardcore Kobe stans like Lakersreign and kobe143 are gone...the rest of the trolls are meh

Q. How is this different from your previous three rings?
KOBE BRYANT: Well, I just don't have to hear that criticism, that idiotic criticism anymore. That's the biggest thing. I don't have to hear that stuff anymore.
Kobe "fans" mimic the behavior of Kobe haters throughout his career You guys just get your panties in a bunch when we apply the same logic to your favorite players. :confusedshrug:

what i find funny is that Kobetards post more about Lebron than they do about Kobe. they start threads talking about Lebron more than they do about Kobe. it's like they think more of Lebron than Kobe.

The difference between Kobe and Lebron stans is Kobe stans have their lips attached to Kobe's ass and they only go u for air to attack Lebron. Lebron stans attack every player they feel threatened by like Durant, D Rose, Kobe, Melo, and Curry. Lebron stans even started attacking Michael Jordan the past couple of months.

No player in NBA history has been more trolled than LeBron due to jealousy and hatred cause he surpassed their favorite player all time.
Even ESPN is ok cashing in with Skip Bayless trolling him daily on TV and Twitter.

They are real fans of his. It's just that Kobe attracts a certain type.
Two main reasons.
1. He has a very stylish game, and that will attract young a superficial fans. Not saying that he won't attract deeper fans, but just by human nature his style will attract the impressionable fan that might see a stylish looking fade away and conclude that because it looks so nice it means he's greater than anyone else.
2. He talks a big game. He basically tries to fit that Jordan, Bird narrative. He talks an alpha game, "If someone puts a wall in front of me, I will run through it..." That kind of talk, and that attracts weaker minded people who want to pretend he's him.
So with the mixture of the two, you will find that Kobe will attract such people.
Not saying that all Kobe fans are like that, but that rather, in addition to legit Kobe fans that have legit reasons to like him, he, more so than any other player will attract such people.

Something about Kobe brings out the absolute extreme in his fans. Bill Simmons(who lives in LA) once said this too, how in going to Laker games at Staples, he realized that no fanbase loves their favorite player like Kobe fans love Kobe. He's simply GOD to them and they can't bear to hear anything to the contrary. And if you have been around Kobe fans, you know Bill's right. And that explains everything. When you are that crazy about someone, you'll confront any threat to that person like a crazy person too. Kobe fans know LeBron's the real deal. From 2006 onwards, the year both either entered their prime(Kobe) or became a superstar(LeBron), LeBron's been Kobe's biggest rival for best-in-the-league status, while always being statistically superior and more beloved/hyped by the media(especially ESPN). The level of insecurity/paranoia/hate this was going to generate in an already-crazy fanbase was always going to be unprecedented. And it was. The primary function of a Kobe fan on the net is to neutralize/diminish LeBron as a threat to their GOD. Find me one Kobe fan who doesn't obsessively do this. You won't. And this was true even a decade ago. Go look up some Cavaliers game threads from 2006 - it's a complete Kobe-fan troll-fest. Even a 21 year old LeBron scared the living sh!t out of them. And that fear got progressively worse with time, with the only difference now being LeBron's universally recognized as the superior player all-time now. Leaving the Kobe fanbase even more bitter and desperate.
Hollinger once wrote a brilliant piece on Kobe fans' obsession with LeBron and how creepy it was. This was back in 2009, I think. How even after LA won the championship that season, Hollinger said the mail he got from Kobe/LA fans was still almost entirely about LeBron. That says it all.
