They'll both have same number of Finals appearances which is enough to declare a winner.

LeBetas turn Iggys into Finals MVPs.

If Lebron wins the Finals MVP and championship next year, he'll be 3/7 to Kobe's 2/7. So that should end the debate to those who are still on the fence. But I'm curious how it would be perceive if he loses the following year, despite having more championships as the man.

I mean..it's a high possibility kyrie steals a fmvp if the cavs win. Hes high ppg + clutch worth remembering shots.. if he gets a second option ring kyrie might as well be prime shaq

Finals MVP is irrelevant. Even your boy LeBron said so. When James was asked how he'd feel if he won MVP of the Finals even if the Cavs were to fall to the Warriors, this is what he said. "At the end of the day, I'm here to win a team prize, not an individual prize." You see? Players play to win the game, not collect individual awards.

Cool story... So Kobe was the best player on 2/5 o his championships. Lebron 2/2

Wha about 2001?

Shaquille O'Neal May 19, 2001:

I told Kobe he was my idol. I'm serious. He's playing phenomenal basketball. He's the best player in the league, by far.

Quote:
He's been getting his points, getting everybody involved, drawing and kicking, doing the right things. Somebody once said the mark of a great player is how you make the other players around you play. I now can truly say that Kobe Bryant is the best player in this league.

June 4th 2001 ESPN.com:

Or in Bryant's case, coming down in the land of maturity. In five short weeks, he's all grown up, even if he still hasn't celebrated his 23rd birthday. His development into the best all-around player in the game today is the primary reason the Lakers have made their own leap, from an underachieving regular-season team to a playoff juggernaut with 15-0 in its crosshairs.

Sure, now hand Lebron or Jordan prime Shaq their first 7 years and see how many more rings they'd have now.

Until I see someone discredit Kareem, Bird or Magic's rings where they weren't FMVP, Kobe's threepeat rings still reign supreme over Lebron's.

As the man my ass, ni99a hasn't even won without Top 15 player all time Dwade yet. Kobe won two without Shaq, three straight Finals.

LeBron 2/6 (2 Finals MVPs in 6 appearances)
Kobe 2/7 (2 Finals MVPs in 7 appearances)

LBJ isn't 2/7 like Kobe yet. And if LBJ does make it to the Finals next year with a healthy roster then he will be 3/7 to Kobe's 2/7

The fact that you would even try to place Wade at the level of Lin or the Australian to prove a moot point, shows a limited and biased knowledge of the game on your part. Dwade might not be TOP 15 but he's definitely in consideration for Top 20 and is fairly easily a Top 4 SG All Time. I'd say he's the third behind Bryant. Long story short, LeBron hasn't won without high calibur teammates (its a ****ing team game so it really doesnt matter).

I have LeBron right below Kobe and Duncan and I can't see him passing either of them until he wins 2 more chips. LeBron has been the best player in the league for years now, and might be the "best" all around player we've ever seen. But "best" and "greatest" are not entirely the same thing, so there are variables other then raw skill or stats that go into GOAT rankings.

Regardless, Bron will end his career as a Top 10 player with Top 5 potential if he wins more. This is indisputable.

Replace "LeBron" with every single NBA player. Ever.

No one wins alone without high calibur teammates.

:kobe:

LeBron's 2 Finals MVPs in 5 appearances was the "nail in the coffin" for Kobe and his 2 for 7? I don't know because what if LeBron went 2 for 8, then Kobe's 2/7 > LBJ's 2/8 We will have to see if LBJ can get a third Finals MVP in the next 2 Finals appearances (If he makes it back two more times).

Definitely, but better than Kobe's. Only 2-4 other players in the history of the sport have an argument for having the better resume.
