I didn't see anything wrong with the quote. Then again, I'm someone that doesn't mind anything the players say. A lot of people were up in arms over what Draymond said at the parade, but I thought it was funny as hell.
I still remember when Monta Ellis said he was as good as Wade, and one of, if not the best player in the league. It is entertaining, and adds value and excitement to the game.
Why do people hate Floyd but love Ali? Ali did some downright disgusting shit to Joe Frazier. Floyd did a bunch of shit too in terms of domestic violence, yet people choose not to overlook that.
At the end of the day, people feel the need to pick a side and have an opinion. It doesn't really matter.

LeBron says and does some stupid things sometimes (don't think that quote was one), but he's had the weight of the world on his shoulders and the media following his every step and word since High School. He was touted the next Jordan before even his senior year of High School. And the thing is, he's mostly lived up to the hype. Everything the guy says or does gets overanalyzed, on and off the court and I think he's done well with his public image (sans the Decision) considering those circumstances.
In my eyes, he deserves much more respect than he gets for what he does on the court from fanbases around the world. The media and former legends usually always give him high praise (maybe too much at times), but how people can degrade LeBron for 2 Chips, 4 MVP's, 6 Finals, etc. I'll never get. Just like I'll never get people who dislike Kobe degrading him for his 5 championships, 2 FMVP's, scoring titles, MVP, etc. Both people have had the weight of the world on their shoulders and deserve nothing but praise for their career achievements. Hate their personality and/or play style all you want, but you can't deny the results are greatness personified.

Btw, article in the OP is a good article that explains both sides of the argument. The writer said he leans more to the side of hate than love, but he explains himself in a respectable manner unlike some of these biased clowns on ISH. If everyone posted like him, ISH would be a great place.

Lebald is like the Ben Stiller of the NBA, always making a fool of himself while making others laugh

Hate is a strong word, LeBron hasn't done anything to anyone to deserve hate. But it doesn't mean people need to cheer for the guy either.
He brings it on to himself with his quotes and excuses which generally people just don't care too much because he is a bit spoiled.
When questioned after he lost in the Finals, be barely recognized the Warriors organization for being the better team.
Instead of saying the 2 all-star excuse or we ran out of talent, he could of went through the motions and congratulated the Warriors. If he even cared to get support which he may not, I would of just said "still 5 on 5 basketball and even though we lost 2 all-stars, we can still compete because this is team basketball. No excuse, Warriors played great basketball and we will figure a way to come back stronger next year." Just think of the support he gets... now instead of getting support, writers are now dogging him about him being a coach killer or he is the person running the Cleveland organization. To the OP's point, he brings it on to himself because either he doesn't care or he is dumb as a truck and has no clue how to win over public relations.

I like LeBron - we need LeBron, because we'd be screwed without him. Win or lose.
Still doesnt explain it... if you "hate" Lebron for those quotes then the entire world should despise Michael "mr ego" - "mr 3rd person" Jordan but thats not the case....

Let's get one thing straight. He didn't make that comment because he believes without a doubt that he is the best. He said it because he was starting to question it himself. That was his insecurity talking as usual, and that makes me pitty him not hate.
the hate is because he plays for the "other" team. too many fans have been burnt cheering against him

Mostly media portrayal and changing teams in 2010 summer. I actually liked pre-Heat LeBron a lot. I often caught recorded games on weekdays with a friend of mine on a Saturday morning. He was a huge LeBron fan and he claims LeBron is the reason he got into basketball. My friend himself was by far the most well rounded athlete I knew in our school. Hell of an athlete and he often played like LeBron too. I've never seen him play selfish when we used to play summer leagues at the local rec center as kids.

Hes overrated. Cant sacrifice stats because hes insecure. He knows hes not the best coz the best doesnt need to prove themselves through stats. Theres a reason why duncan, russell, curry are winners and thats what 2/6 stans really dont get. They all think about is stats. They cant identify whether a player is a born winner or loser.

3. Saying hell take part in the dunk contest
4. Not taking part of the dunk contest and refusing to address it
5. Travels... a lot

7. Refs not calling the travel
8. Did the same move the following year, got called for travel, but defended and called it a crab dribble
9. Flops a lot.... especially for his size
10. Winking after getting away with flop
11. Says he doesnt flop
12. Having other teams personally pitch for him in 2010 all the while Miami was a done deal
13. That paradr after decision
14. Stacking the deck, admitting its gonna be easy, then act like hed been to hell to win his first chip
15. Elbowgate
16. That haywood flop
17. Constant media blowjobs
18. Media spinning the return as a selfless act. When he just stacking the deck again, only younger

LeBron James' weird elbow injury 2010 playoffs ( the famous celtics/Delonte West ) series
it was a great joke.. he was -still- laughing stock of the NBA
"It was pretty bad. It was something we couldn't figure out exactly what it was. There was times where I couldn't fully extend my elbow, and that's my shooting arm. And I do a lot with my right hand [laughs] ... Close to the last week of the season it started hurting a little bit, and then it just got worse throughout the playoffs."
-------------------------------------
Remember LeBron James' weird elbow injury?
By Kelly Dwyer
I'm hardly Dr. Andrew Bogut, so I'm not going to tell you if LeBron James(notes) was crazy for thinking that his still-undiagnosed elbow problem was getting in the way of him dominating the Boston Celtics (as he's done many times in the past) last spring. James still put up fantastic stats against the C's as Boston handily did away with James' Cavaliers, but LeBron was far from the efficient model we'd seen several hundred times over as the Celtics moved along.
And as you'll recall, just about every time Boston did something splashy or James did something un-James-like, he made a point to show everyone watching ... "look, my elbow!"
But as distasteful as James' disappearance in the playoffs was last season, and while he still managed to put up massive statistics (while dominating the ball and turning it over quite a bit, it should be said), something was clearly different with the guy during the two rounds of the playoffs his team worked through.
The passage isn't online (in the latest copy of SLAM, on newsstands now), but ProBasketballTalk has quoted an interview James gave to SLAM's Lang Whitaker recently, regarding the elbow:
"It was pretty bad. It was something we couldn't figure out exactly what it was. There was times where I couldn't fully extend my elbow, and that's my shooting arm. And I do a lot with my right hand [laughs] ... Close to the last week of the season it started hurting a little bit, and then it just got worse throughout the playoffs."
As with all things LeBron-y, this isn't a black-and-white case.
It looked like there was something wrong with him last spring, but he didn't have to make it so obvious.
He put up great stats, but unlike the great stats that helped his team win more games in the NBA than anyone else over the last two years, the numbers didn't really help his team in a meaningful way.
And while the injury may have had a huge impact on his team going out way too early in the playoffs, Cleveland still should have won last season.
Boston was -- and is -- a great team, but LeBron took the end of that series off. Despite his stats. At least when he went out in 2009, he went down driving. Going at Dwight Howard(notes). Probably ruing the fact that he, and not Ben Wallace(notes), should have been guarding Rashard Lewis(notes). Not last season. LeBron let it happen. This isn't to discredit the Celtics; they earned that win. But LeBron let things ... happen.
And because things aren't black and white, we don't know how much of a hook to give this guy, once discussion about that as-yet-undiagnosed elbow injury comes into play.
But that's LeBron for you. Keeping things nice and complicated for us.

People hate him because he threatens the all time standing of their favorite player. If we're actually being honest, that's the most accurate answer.
