View Full Version : Warriors should make a run at LMA
I know it won't happen and the dubs will most likely stand pat. It is fun to think about though.
Warriors trade Bogut, Barnes, Lee(expiring), Ezeli, and their 2015 1st rounder to the knicks for the 4th pick in the draft. Warriors will then draft WCS. They would open up 17 million in cap space. LMA will sign for 2 years with a one year opt out so he could sign a bigger deal when the cap increases next season. Then sign Pierce for one year MLE deal. Re-sign Green using bird rights.
Curry/Livingston
Klay/Barbosa
Pierce/Iggy
Green/Speights
LMA/WCS
Ultra stacked.

So you think Cauley-Stein is worth a All-Defense big man, a proven starter, a former all star, a good rotation player AND a 1st rounder?
Goat GM...

The key is getting indication from LMA that he would sign obviously. They are going to dump Lee regardless so LMA, WCS, and Pierce >>> Bogut, Barnes, and Ezeli.
Knicks would take this deal in a heartbeat.

If rumors are true that Phil wants to trade the pick then getting 3 starters and a quality backup big isn't too bad. Lee expires so they will still have a ton of cap room in 2016 when the cap jumps to 89 million.
Calderon
Barnes
Melo
Lee
Bogut/Ezeli
Playoff team in the East.

Barnes would actually be able to grow on the Knicks.
Kinda like James Harden when he got traded to the Rockets, not MVP level, but Barnes would be an AllStar in the east.

I could see that. Barnes seems like a great fit for the triangle. Actually Bogut and Lee too.

Love your description of bogut, ezili, Barnes and lee.

The Knicks trade is dumb. Take out pick 4 and it's close. When you are trying to dump players for pure cap space you never get a fair return.
Warriors should make another run at Kevin love though- or Aldridge by trading lee, Barnes, and picks.

GSW as they're built now are very versatile. Losing their defensive anchor in Bogut would be a mistake, even worse if they lose Ezeli too. Let's say Gasol ends up in SAS and pairs up with TD. How exactly are they supposed to deal with that frontline then?

They do pickup WCS in this scenario.

There's no point for the Warriors to try to make risk moves. They're the champions. If it isn't broke don't fix it.

Exactly.
The OP is basically calling for a Mark Cuban here and gut the champion roster in order to chase unicorns.

Is he good? Can the Warriors get him?
Exactly.

Well there would have to be some collusion involved. One of the warriors players can talk to LMA. Then the player can talk to the Warriors FO. Basically the trade only happens if the Warriors know for sure that LMA will sign.

A healthy OKC and Cavs team is better than the dubs. The dubs got lucky. They will be great in the regular season again. However, I'll take OKC and the Cavs over them in the playoffs.
Is he good? Can the Warriors get him?
Yes. Probably not. They will most likely stand pat.

Me thinks Marc Gasol is a better fit than LMA.
Lee, Barnes, Ezeli all have trade values. Bogut can come off the bench for Marc.

He is but all indications are that he will re-sign with Memphis. If the Warriors were to sign Gasol or LMA then Bogut would have to be traded too in order to clear enough cap room.

How is that a risk move, none of those players did anything for their championship run.

2 starters didn't do anything? :biggums:

whos a starter there? Barnes? his backup is better and won mvp, shouldn't have been starting. Bogut was nowhere all playoffs, and Lee hasn't contributed for the past 2 years.
