Like I've always said, the angle makes it look as if Matt is faking directly to Kobe's face.

This moment came to mind as the most alpha.

MJ's shot over Russell in game 6 and leaving that hand extended for a couple of seconds just to emphasize the point. That's how an alpha ends his career. And he stole the ball from Malone the other end seconds earlier. Did it on both ends like he did his entire career.

This was a great game. Knicks vs Lakers. Ewing, LJ, Sprewell, Alan Houston vs Kobe, Shaq, Rodman, Glenn Rice.

Rodman making Kurt Thomas lose it, which resulted in Thomas slamming him and getting ejected. That Shaquile dunk on Chris Dudley. It was a very physical game.

Gilbert Arenas shares a story where the Nuggets are blowing out the Lakers and Kobe sees Melo laughing on the sideline. At the time Melo was leading the league in scoring by a healthy margin with 30+ PPG (to Kobe's ~28 PPG). Kobe takes exception to Melo's light-heartedness and lets him know that even though the Nuggets were going to win the game, Melo wasn't going to win the scoring title.
Sure enough, on 03/15/2007, the Nuggets blew out the Lakers in Denver by 27 points.
Kobe then followed up that Denver game with a 5 game stretch where he scored 65, 50, 60, 50, and 43 points. With 12 games left in the season, Kobe went on to have a 53, 46, 50, and 50 point game. In that 17 game stretch to end the season, Kobe averaged 40.3 PPG on 47.44% shooting to overtake Carmelo Anthony and win the 2007 scoring title.

I'm not even a Kobe fan, but averaging 40 ppg on 48%fg in the final 17 games of the season is likely the most alpha thing I've ever heard of in basketball. Telling people he was going to do it beforehand just made it that much more alpha.

Jeremy Lin's run of games essentially proves, to me, that 'the zone' is a real thing. As anyone that has ever played basketball or any sport in any meaningful way can attest to, there are brief flashes of time during playing where your mind sort of shifts and everything seems surreal and you 'can't miss.' It's some sort of massive psychological shift or level of focus or whatever. It is real.

Some people dismiss this type of thing as a 'hot hand fallacy' and view these moments as just statistical anomalies with no underlying change, but anyone who have lived through these moments knows that you have experienced some sort of psychological shift, if only for a very brief period of time.

Jeremy Lin experienced such a shift for like 8 or 9 games in a row or whatever it was. Unreal.

You mother****ers make being realistic about Kobe seem like hate cos you’re so retarded.

Why would Barnes actually hit him? Barnes dumbness made this look like a tough play to dummies.

Kobe subconsciously would’ve never bought the idea of getting hit in the face with that ball because it makes zero sense for scrub Barnes to risk a possession in a finals game on that. If not getting outright tech’d up.

I almost can’t even make up an example to explain this better. This example is the example. You simply would never assume something so stupid so why would you flinch?

I mean Barnes did fake it after all.

Tough to say which one reigns supreme amongst some of the moments given, but MJ saving Scottie and getting in the face of X-Man has to be up there. Those who don't know about X-Man just need to know that he was a legit psycho.

This one for sure

Kobe has 61 in three quarters, goes to the bench in a blowout. Brian Shaw ask, hey Kobe, wanna play the 4th and get 70? Nah, ill get it soon. One month later, 81

Because it's human instinct to flinch you dumbass

What do you got? Did I close my own thread?

Kobe isn't even defending the play. He's just standing there rocking back and forth like an idiot. Clearly something was bothering him.

This is the most alpha moment:

Miller blatantly pushing off Jordan for the gamewinner has to be up there. I guess the refs momentarily lost focus and failed to protect their guy lol

Barnes didn't even do that directly at Kobe's face. Look at the angle. Not sure why people make such a big deal of it. They probably both found it amusing at the time.
This

Flinch Gate was debunked a few years back which showed it's optical illusion. But given the lack of playoff moments and recent tragedy, we let Kobe stans still run with it.

The bar was set to historic lows for Michael's alpha resume

We all recall the "shrug" and "the shot".

Only to realize the shrug came after hitting a couple standard three's, or the notorious shot over career bench stud Craig Ehlo. A few threes for Mikey was Ben Simmons like.
