View Full Version : Did Taj Gibson time his surgery to avoid being traded?

Seems like it.

His bone spurs and ankle problems has been a long ongoing problem. Suddenly he decides to take surgery right before the draft which teams look to do trades and he knows the Bulls rarely trade midseason.

I'm kind of pissed by this. Noah and Gibson was a necessary clean out.

Maybe because it's the off season?

Maybe I'm being pessimistic here, but the first gut feeling i got from this was that he planned this to avoid being traded.

He has had these injuries for a while. Why not last offseason?

Or maybe he's not a retard like other players and got it out of the way now. This way he has time to recover then train before camp..

And what makes you think he wants to remain a bull anyway? By the looks of that playoff run most of them don't want to be there.. Jimmy buckets better be careful they don't match and he's stuck there..
With taj most teams know what they'll be getting so I don't see this as any problem with a trade

But...Not straight away after the Bulls were eliminated? Seems strange to wait a month if that was his sole intention.

The future for the Bulls will look brighter, now that we have a coach who understands offense and how to use player minutes. He will definitely use more Mirotic and McDermott, and give each player a defined role, not yank them and ruin players confidence like Thibs used to do.

Butler is staying man. I am almost certain of that. Thibs leaving will help his decision to stay.

So...if the new coach is going to fix all of "our" problems, then why do you want the TAJinater traded? I don't feel like he has been one of our problems...unless you are just sick of the guy because he has had some injuries? Or is this all about making more playing time for Mirotic because we think he is going to be so good this season?

The more and more I think about this...I just don't see why Bulls fans feel that having four quality players between the PF and center position is too much. Isn't the biggest problem at SF or the health status of our point guard?

I don't know, and don't really care that much. He's one of the better backup bigs in the league when he's healthy. Hopefully he'll be 100% under Hoiberg.

Nothing against Taj.

I am a realist when it comes to what players bring to the table.

He's solid value for the 8 per he's getting and I'm happy if he stays on with us.

HOWEVER

Had he been healthy, he was worth more to us to trade him. We already have two competent PF's in the rotation and we have bigger needs in other areas. From a Bulls perspective he was worth more as a tradeable asset.

I'd be looking to gain a 1 year rental along with Noah to increase cap space and take a run at KD in 2016. Or simply just to give us flexibility to make a trade to get better. I just don't think Noah and Gibson is in our plans for our next run at titles.

I know many Bulls fans don't like real talk on Bulls players, but no point staying a treadmill team. We aren't in the game for that.
