When the NBA season ends, I tend to play a lot of NBA 2K franchise mode. Just a way to get my NBA fix I guess. Anyways, I thought it would be cool if I started a franchise and let ISH help decide its fate. To make it interesting, and allow for a lot of roster movement, I've chosen the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is how the thread will work.

Every day I will play/simulate 10 NBA games. I will then post the results, as long as all the important franchise information, including player rotations, players morale, team chemistry, coaching strategies, and of course, player trades and draft picks. I will also include my general direction as a GM, but am willing to take any advice! So without further ado, here are your ISH Minnesota Timberwolves.

Current Plan:

Trade away anyone over age 25 + Ricky Rubio. Try to stack draft picks for the 2015-17 draft, then add Vets after they develop. Team focus on shooting, defense, and athleticism. Build around Wiggins and another high draft pick.

Daily Updates:

Before I play a single game, I'm going to make some significant trades. Rubio and Martin are gone for sure, and I'm looking to get draft picks and/or young talent. I'll post some options I'm exploring, and am also open to ideas!

Rubio and Bennett have been traded. Twolves picked up what could be a top 10 pick in the current draft. Roster updated.

First 10 games of the season are complete. TWolves went 3-7, with our last game being a win over the Knicks! The tank is strong with this team.

Exploring trades right now! Gonna move Rubio, Martin, and Bennett before I sim the first 10 games.

Normally I don't, but this team kinda needs it. I'd like to get a top 5 pick in the next two drafts. I won't go 76ers tank mode though. :oldlol:

Pekovic and Payne for Noel and Covington is tempting. Maybe draft Towns to stick next to Noel.

I'll try. Perhaps ISH can help veto unrealistic trades. For example, that Martin for Mirotic would never go down.

f*ck dat, I used the Kings and traded or released everyone but Cousins...Cousins became great and within 3yrs I won a title with the signing of Durant and a 88 overall rookie PG. Swag.

Edit: The rest of my team consist of Minimum wage washed up players though, still boss.

That's the plan. Gonna build around Wiggins + a high draft pick. Hopefully make the playoffs in 3 years.

why not wait a couple days to see how the draft plays out, so you can have towns?

cool idea

So in the the spirit of making realistic trades, I'm trying to move Rubio + Martin + pick to the Knicks for Calderon + 2015 pick + filler. The idea is to possibly get two top 5 picks in the upcoming draft. Maybe land Towns and a PG.

2K won't update their roster post draft. They want you to buy 2K16. You can download player made draft classes though. The 2015 and 2016 player made draft classes are legit.

Can do that with literally any team except the Nets.

They have nothing of value.

What'd be more interesting is if you let ISH run your team or have significant decision. Have us be the ones coming up with cool trade ideas, approving trades, etc. Will take a long ass time though

Knicks Receive:

Ricky Rubio - 78
Kevin Martin - 80
Anthony Bennett - 71

TWolves Receive:

Jose Calderon - 73
Alexey Shved - 69
Lance Thomas - 66
2015 1st round pick (probably top 10ish)

Knicks get immediate help for Melo. Wolves get a 1st round pick and two rotation players.

Think we tried that before with a league. Not enough dedication from the posters. Better to find a site (usually a board) completely dedicated to the league. I've actually really been in the mood to do another one of those ISH drafts we always do in the offseason. Maybe do a year 2 of that redraft? The one we did last summer drafting for the new year. Since it surprisingly completed through the drafting stages and voting. Too early, tho.

Anyway I don't want to hijack. Using custom draft classes, yeah? What about rosters? 2K's one turns Lavine into a star in a couple seasons.

It's not a good time to do an Association during the season because everyone is occupied with the real life season.

An association during the off-season is a much better time

You have to understand that this is pre-lottery. Knicks don't have the #4 pick yet. With 2K simulation, it could end up not even being top 10.

Pre Lottery as in after this season but before the lottery

Or pre lottery as in the beginning of the 2014-2015 season?

Beginning of the 14/15 season. I think the Knicks were a projected borderline playoff team.

Martin will probably average 23-4-4 on good efficiency and the Knicks could make the playoffs. Stuff like that always happened on 2k14.

What I do with 2K games is manually adjust player's overalls based on what happens in real life. I'd also look over the Draft Class I'd download and adjust the stats based on how the rookies perform in real life.

Don't know if OP has that patience.

I went through every roster on several franchise modes and adjusted potential ratings so guys like Otto Porter wouldn't boost up to 87 ovr and become one of the many young unrealistic all-stars.

BD, you should do it, depending on how long you wanna go with this. It takes about 15 - 30 minutes and it's worth it.

That trade is fair enough, you should carry on with it. Except maybe keep Shved out of it since he left Minny just not too long ago.

The Ibaka one was terrible tho lol

I'm not too worried about player potential. If Porter becomes an 87 in a few years, so be it. I do use the most popular, updated NBA Rosters and Draft Classes.

2K15 simulation is a little better than 2K14.. but it can still be wonky sometimes, especially with the standings out East.

Shved makes the money work, and can shoot a little. I'm thinking of including Pekovic for Bargnani and a 2016 pick as well. Bargs is an expirer, while Pek still has 4 years left. I'm worried that the Knicks will be too good if I give them all those players though. :oldlol:

bdreason
06-24-2015, 01:45 AM
what are calderon and shveds contracts? Try and trade for some expiring contracts so you will have more cap space to sign free agents in the offseason. 2 top 10 picks plus money to sign a big name player will get you in the playoffs soon, especially with wiggins developing and under his rookie contract.

great thread idea OP, ill try to post as much as I can in here

Shved is an expirer, and Calderon has two years. Wolves have plenty of cap space coming up with KG and other contracts expiring. I might move Pek for an expirer as well.

bdreason

Okay, so I finally pulled the trigger on the following trade;

Knicks Receive:

Ricky Rubio - 78
Anthony Bennett - 71
2016 2nd round pick

TWolves Receive:

Jose Calderon - 73
Alexey Shved - 69
2015 1st round pick

Going to Sim 10 games, then look into moving Martin and/or Pek tomorrow. Looking for expirers or younger talent. I think Neal needs to be traded as well. He wants minutes, but I want to give those minutes to developing players.

Trade for Shabazz Napier. Untapped potential. Make him a starter. 3 years he's Steph Curry on steroids.
