He passes all the tests. Lakers gonna regret passing on him. He's got the right mentality too. I didn't know his vert was 39". And he's right, you can't teach great vision and passing ability. He seems to have it. Also has a great and effortless stroke. This kid has greatness written all over him.

Russell is a star. He's been my favorite player in the Draft for a while. It's gonna be so satisfying to watch the Lakers pass up on him. :oldlol:
I really hope he lands on a team with good coaching that can bring out his potential like the Lakers/Knicks, NOT 76ers or Orlando Magic.
76ers have drafted so many high potential guys like Evan Turner and MCW and just didn't know how to get the most out of them.

That's some Ginobili shit. With the way the NBA is going, I would also take him over Okafor.

Wait, what? 39 inch vertical :biggums: ??
Well... That video just makes things even more crazy for this draft.
What are his handles like? Could we be looking at a more explosive CP3?

Orlando overhauled its coaching staff in the past month (Vaughn was awful) and Philly has a different FO and coaching staff from the regime that picked Turner. MCW is another story. He has some room to grow but I think most around the NBA think he tops out as an average PG with his lack of shooting and high TOs. Better to land a likely lotto pick for a guy like that, right?
Anyway, some of those passes were really sick, especially the last one. I wonder how many takes he needed to do that. Russell should be a special player. Interested to see how he adjusts to the NBA game.

Simply put, he's got game. Off the charts skill level, including the handles to breakdown set defenders with a variety of moves. He uses good change of pace/speed sort of like Curry. He sort of has too because he lacks sudden explosion.

So if he was attacking the rim he lacks that Westbrook "POW!!!"..? Isn't that vertical more than Westbrook's? Is that something that could be improved on? Like, twitch fibers or something? Idk.
oh the horror

Man...with the way the league is going I feel like his kid would be a safer bet than Okafur. Am I wrong?

Verticals can be misleading. Most players under 6'6" average about 30-37 inch vert, even when they aren't considered athletic. He lacks explosive athleticism and he will never really have that Westbrook type explosiveness. But you are drafting him for his overall skills, which is rare for a 19 year old. But it's not like he has poor athleticism, I think he has enough to be great, sort of like Manu, Curry and Harden.

No shit. Only Westbrook has that Westbrook type explosiveness. Russell's athleticism is understated though, kinda like Harden's is/was. He isn't Nash/Steph Curry.

Kid might have potential but ESPN sports science show is just a gimmick, half the stuff they say is pointless for dramatic effect (2,000 degrees per second wtf :oldlol: ) and some of it isn't even true (they get player measurement data wrong all the time)

As much as I dislike MCW he's the same way. he has a 41" vert and you'd never know it. Russell is the same way.

Who would you take out of Cousy and D'Angelo knowing that D'Angelo can spin the ball at 2000 degrees per second? Both rotation and temperature wise.

My favorite Sports Science piece, and I almost never watch it so I definitely miss some gems, was when Lebron's speed was compared to that of the "speedster" Chris Paul.
Is Chris Paul fast? Sure. Is he a "speedster"? lol no.
Show is, just like you said, a gimmick and all about using certain facts to mislead.

best passer since nash

He's more of a Manu Ginobili flashy passer than a James Harden passer.
I really can't see how he's gonna bust with his shooting ability, passing ability, and size for position.

Jerry West said he'll be a HOFer. That's enough for me.

Depends on what year it was. Chris Paul was actually fast for any player's standard before the injury.
