Jackson has four years left on his contract and speaks openly about this being a short-term exercise. He wants to put the franchise on solid footing, then turn it over to the next guy—ideally before a potential labor stoppage in 2017.

So basically fck them and then leave. I remember someone predicting this when he was hired.

He's old and tired and banged up. Phil doesn't want to battle through a labour stoppage when he can just sit on a beach or a ranch. Not surprised.

No surprise he has health issues which is what kept him from coaching

The Knicks just paid a big name to quell everyone's anger, as usual. I'm pretty sure they hired Jackson a day before the planned MSG protest.

This is why when the rumors were going around that the Pistons wanted Phil Jackson to become the next GM I wasn't really thrilled about it despite Jackson's basketball knowledge. The fear of him not being fully committed long term. I wouldn't be surprised if he bolts the Knicks before his contract is up. He's getting older and has had health issues, I don't see him sticking around that long and I'd prefer to have stability in the Front Office.

Maybe Jeannie is going to finally dump Jimmy Boy, paving the way for Phil to come back to LakerLand and run the show. The Zen Master's just setting the stage.

Good luck getting good free agents now. He can boast immediate hope for a competitive team, nor can he talk about a solid long term plan either

Here is the thing.

I actually like the draft pick and trade if he's just saying..."**** it"...we aren't beating the Cavs with Melo as our best player anyway...let's just rebuild.

The problem is, as many have said, the Knicks aren't in the draft next year and if they add players during free agency...they are simply going to be in the dreaded spot of making the playoffs but not having the ability to contend.

And if they add a bunch in free agency....they'll likely be a player away because they chose a project draft pick.

My guess is that Melo waives his no trade clause at some point this year and the Knicks find a way to get back a couple first rounders and Melo makes his way to a competitive team.

That makes sense for everyone. Shit. Send him and Calderon to Dallas and we'll give you Parsons/Felton/Justin...etc. back. Not really...as much as I hate parsons, he's probably better than Melo for us. LOL

The guy is 70 years.old. He could be dead in 2 years. Knicks should have hire a much younger President of Basketball Operation. The guy is no longer committed to winning since 2010.

Wonder what would've happened if he took that Lakers job. :confusedshrug:
