Lets be real one of the GOAT peaks http://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/yeshrug.png sht like 93-95 Hakeem. Not many nikkas can touch that level DMX reached. He was murdering JayZ during that span and was seen as the clear #1 but then DMX fell off, slacked, drugs, movie tip etc. He was better than Pac too at his peak for sure Pac was just more consistent and released a buncha sht. Biggie was better, maybe Nas. Peak DMX was better than Eminem, Common, Mos Def, Kiss, Prodigy, any WuTang member, Cube, Scarface, Masta Ace etc but a couple are arguable

Has zero case over Eminem dropping critically acclaimed albums that were selling more than all the pop stars. 96 Pac was more relevant than DMX ever was and it's not even close. Ready2Die Biggie as well. Infamous is better than anything DMX did and Wu-Tang combined is clearly >>>>. Then you got 50, Wayne, Snoop, etc

94-96 Tupac is by a landslide the GOAT peak.

Em only had 2 hot albums. MMLP and SSLP are good peaks better than anything most did but not X
Pac was never as good as DMX at his peak. DMX had his emotion, plus he was a better storyteller, writer and vocally much superior with way more range/diversity
I agree about peak Biggie, the Shaq of Hip Hop. GOAT peak thats the reason hes so high on lists despite only having 2 albums
Infamous was P AND Havoc. Those beats are timeless too..........
Of course im talkin individually not Wu Tang as whole.........Only Built Raekwon up there. Liquid Swords is overrated but still great. Ghost had a nice little run but not GOAT level. None of the other Wu members worth mentioning individually
50, Wayne and Snoop :yaohappy: :yaohappy:

Puff Daddy.
The dude was dropping hits left and right. Air play and video play. Was everywhere making hits.
On top of that he was producing a lot of stuff for people too and basically anything that came out of Bad Boy Records was his.

What does peak even entail? If it's commercial success than the list is really not as subjective as you're making it sound whereas ranking shit based on what you personally enjoy is weird. Lil B has GOAT peak. I ain't explaining shit.

I agree with this and it is all subjective but Diddy in my opinion was pretty good and we can easily loop up the charts and see how big time his tracks were. Diddy backed it up with sales.

7 hit songs in 3 years is pretty damn good. Topped all charts.
Also, he did some collaborations that were hits too.
I know people don't like his stuff and rap is subjective so you have to use results and Ja Rule produced results.
Swizz Beats was a good producer too.

THIS.
People don't know just how good Black Frank White was..
Pac was one dimensional.....most of his songs sound the same and he rap about the same topic over and over....while Black Frank White had more to it...Some of his songs were hilarious....some were depressing like 'Suicidal Thoughts'...some were about inspiration like 'Juicy'...some were about gang life like 'Somebody gotta die'
Each of his songs were meaningful...and not just about screwing bitches and smoking crack like the D-Grade rappers of today.

His music only sounds the same to you because it is played everywhere and that shows you how great he was. I hear clubs play 2pac and I have went to trendy hipster lounges and they play 2pac there too. His stuff always get people to dance, even the unknown songs.
His music is GOAT for a rapper because it can transcend to different social arenas.

None of Pac's album reach the greatness of Ready to die or Life after death.
Pac was a great rapper....but his legacy's been terribly overrated...he was never on the same level as Biggie or Nas

Life after death can't touch some of Pac's albums.
Tupac put way more music out in his time than guys like Nas who hasn't put out shit since illmatic.

Life after death is prolly the most 'revolutionary' album since str8 outta compton...
Its the album that combined gangster rap with mainstream pop.....sure Snoop had some success with songs like 'gin and juice' which combined pop and rap but nothing close to what Biggie achieved.

:wtf: bruh what are you even talking about? Pac released his first album in 1991 and died like a week or 2 following the last album he released in 1996. Thats a 5 year span which is one of the shortest career for an artist/musician

But seriously doe...the only blip in Biggie's career wasthat he release two albums...not his fault..obviously.
But those 2 albums are milestones in rap music
Ready to Die: saved East coast hip hop being overrun from the west.
Life after death : brought gangster rap to mainstream pop....rappers like 50 cent have based their entire careers on this genre...and Biggie was the innovator

BIggie was great, but he's no Pac. Pac just crushed him in terms of energy and lyricism and they were equals in terms of things like story telling, flow and charisma. Pac also put more good music out. R U Still Down is so damn good and gets no love. BIggie probably peaked, Pac was just getting started. I'd have loved to have seen him work for the next 10-15 years with top producers.

Keep your head up, Changes, Dear Mama, Me against the world, Smile, Only God can judge me, Brendas got a baby >>> Biggies career
DMX has a great peak. He is a true song writer, you don't see that very often in rap.
Eminems peak, if you consider everything from Slim Shady LP through the 8 mile soundtrack, is pretty ludicrous. One of the best selling albums of all time, a critically acclaimed movie, insane skills, funny lines, was killing every collaboration he did. Tops it off with Lose Yourself which is a pretty classic song, probably his best ever.

A lot of people I grew up around love Biggie I think just because he reps NYC. I always thought Tupac was the better storywriter, yes Biggie had a sick rhyme but most of his songs honestly weren't that great lyrics wise.
When it comes to the apex of hip hop, you could argue West Coast Hip Hop had it on lock until probably mid 1990s when I personally think Nas revitalized the NYC scene alongside Biggie. Although Rakim and other MCs were crazy out of NYC in the late 80s.

Big L is my NY fav. Big Pun had flow on lockdown though.
Big L was gonna hook up with Jay Z record too. Those two would have kept the NYC rap on lock for at least 3-4 more years especially with Nas still putting out "decent" albums (God Son wasn't too shabby, listened to it a few months back while playing ball. The first few songs were straight fire) and 50 Cent rap explosion in the early 2000s.

Big L was an underground legend in that aspect too.
I always wondered how BK and Queens spat out so much talent during the 90s/2000s and how South BX/Harlem only really gave us Big Pun and Big L.
