If you look at all the drafts in history, particularly the last 20 years, at least one player from the top 3 either flat out became a bust or was a marginal NBA player at best. Who is your pick for 2015?

1997 wasn't that bad

Neither was 99. They're outliers tho.

Probably Towns if I had to choose. He's a little more on the potential than the other two. I think all 3 end up as good players tho.

Problem is, how often are #1 picks just a bad pick? Bennett and Bargs for sure. But those really weren't good drafts. If the Cavs select Dipo or Noel... Still mediocre top picks. Not sure of Aldridge was ever considered for Toronto in 06. After him you had Ammo, T2, Shewill... C'mon. Oden doesn't count because of injuries. Not sure Gasol had a chance of going #1 in 01. Seems unlikely to me because of the euro stuff, but I'm just guessing. Even if the Wiz selected Chandler, look how long it took him to become a decent player. I bet he still bounces to multiple teams before he matures and his peak still isn't a quality #1 pick.

So teams rarely **** up the top pick. Still going with Towns of the 3...

If you took injuries out of equation, Embiid, Parker and Wiggins are all good.

Not sure of Aldridge was ever considered for Toronto in 06.

He was. Bosh worked out with him in the summer and he vouched for management to get him. The main reasons for not taking Aldridge was the potential they say in Bargnani; how Colangelo thought that the league was "changing" and needed to space the floor with both bigs hitting jumpers.

The other reason was that Aldridge played the same position as Bosh (where as Bargs could play center in the future and in today's league all 3 can) and they had literally the same game. Did management want 2 PF's focusing on mid-range/post game ? Yeah, Aldridge would have been the right choice in hindsight but you would have a very redundant offense. It would have been been a bigger version of the Gay and DeRozan combo when they were still on the team, but granted Bosh/Aldridge are better players.

All 3 will pan out, but the weakest link is Okafor IMO.

I don't see Towns Being an All Star Bigman. I think he's going the Bogut Tier

He'll be able to block a shot and rebound but not a great post game

if a guy like deandre jordan is considered a top 5 center in this league ... i don't see any reason why towns cant be decent. are we expecting that he is the next shaq? of course not ... He will be alright..

I am more scared of the player going to LA. You think he is your next kobe legacy wise?

Embiid did not play a single minute NBA basketball how can he be good?
