After which Phoenix will look to trade of Eric Bledsoe apparently

This deal is just insanely dumb. He is worth 8 mill a season max.

Heck, he will be on more cash then Steph Curry next year

Phoenix really going nowhere with decisions like this

Giving max money to a low IQ player is usually a bad idea.

Huh? He's a skinny undersized scoring guard with a decent shot. This makes no sense.

Ta-da!

A 23 year old starting PG, in his fourth season, who will take up about 16% of your salary next season, who averaged 17, 5, 4...

He's a beast in fantasy. Once Bledsoe is traded (it's inevitable now), he will shine.

Fantasy =/= reality. Knight's not a good defender and as others have stated, he's an SG in a PG's body. Not worth the money, IMO.

It's never been more depressing to be a Suns fan.

This team has no idea what they're doing. Getting rid of Bledsoe would probably be for the best, but immediately signing another semi-unproven player to nearly the same ridiculous contract as him isn't going to help the problem. :facepalm

Sigh. :( I miss the days of Nash/Amare/Marion.

That's a steal. The cap is almost doubling, so you have to adjust salaries accordingly. Knight is right there with guys like Kemba Walker and Jrue Holliday or other guys like that and they are already getting 12 mil. He probably could have gotten more than 14 if he played the market.

I don't know why they'd trade Bledsoe though. Him and Knight are awesome complements to each other IMO.

They had trouble fitting, but it was a rushed effort to make the two work together so quickly.

I'd probably try to trade Bledsoe too if I signed Knight to such a deal, but I think both guys are ball-dominant and not great creators for others. Knight's also a worse defender, though he's a better shooter. Bledsoe's knees also worry me long-term since his deal is fully guaranteed, so rolling with Knight might be better a better bet. Either way, both guys are kinda overrated in my book.

Is Phoenix trying to tank next year? They need a blue chip prospect instead of picking late lotto each year. They also need to give burn to their young guys finally. No point in having so many rookie-scale players and not giving them enough PT.

To be fair, he averaged 13, 4, and 2 on 35% shooting in PHX.

Not saying he won't produce 17, 5, 4 once Bledsoe is traded, but Bledsoe averaged about the same with sligtly higher stats and shot much better.

So in a way, you're trading away a player to accomodate a player who will produce less. All the while paying the same $$$. Did EB really catch feelings when they played hardball with his RFA?

Should've just kept Dragic.

Not sure what's happening, but if this move end up giving minutes to Booker, I'm all for it.
About time the young guns on the team get some PT to develop.

Inb4 they trade Bledsoe for another PG :facepalm

As I said, he put up 17,5,4 beofre being traded, at 23 in his third year in the league.

I can't imagine when hes 27 and in his 7th year, that $14m per won't look like a steal.

14 million is an overpay as the current cap is constructed however after year 1 of his deal he will be a pretty good bargain when the cap goes up considerably.

Plus you are buying his prime years. Whats the problem?

I don't think it's an awful signing but certainly not anything to get excited about. I'd be a little worried about the direction of the team if I were a Suns fan, they seem to be on the treadmill right now.

That's just above MLE-type money nowadays based on % of cap. Locking in his talent now before his prime years is very smart.

He's really good in isolation- maybe he needs more stability or the right core to continue growing, but his impact seems similar to Jrue when he was in Philly. Both fine players, different styles, but I'm not super high on either of them. Stats were sort of inflated on their squads imo.

Btw any new rumors as to where Bledsoe lands? Curious what kind of haul he could bring.

Team value a consistent shooting PG with adequate defense.

Bledsoe is a beast defensively, great rebounder, but lacks shooting.

Todays NBA PG has to be able to hit their 3 point shot at a consistent rate.

Rajon Rondo is about to face a very cold market.

This makes me think would Prime Jason Kidd still be coveted in todays game?

So the Suns turned Dragic, Thomas, and Bledsoe into an overpaid Knight...how do you mess up that bad?

Suns screwed up everything when they didn't handle Dragic/Bledsoe correctly. They should've taken care of those players to avoid the Thomas Jr. blunder and now this.

The front office running this team is in utter disarray.

I think Kidd would still be a max guy. He'd probably have started working on his 3 point shot a lot earlier too, and we know that once he did focus on that he became an excellent shooter.

Rondo was still pretty highly valued coming into last season, his attitude and play were both so bad though that he really ****ed himself.

Scoring PG's like Westbrook and Rose aren't good three point shooters and still hold a lot of value. Kidd's game isn't like theirs but I don't think you have to be a marksman to be a valuable PG, it's just a bonus.

You can find enough outside shooting from bigs these days that you can put 3-4 shooters out there alongside a PG who isn't a threat from deep and be ok.

Never ceases to amaze me how chill you can be despite all the shit talking I do about the Rockets :oldlol: Been busy doe. Graduated, got a job in Chicago. Probably won't be posting as much until the season.

Call me out though, I don't even remember my draft predictions lol. I was all over the place for weeks before the draft. LA taking DLo f*cked things up for a lot of people. Your boys WCS and Towns are in great situations though. WCS/Boogie and KAT/Wiggs are filthy duos.

I agree with you. I just notice every time a team wins a championship, NBA GM's and VP's start to "Copy" cat previous teams. Scoring PG's with decent play-making ability are becoming more valued than great playmaking PG's with subpar jump shots.

Stretch 4's are now more valued than rebounding and defensive PF's. I almost feel like Christian Laettner, Pat Garrity, and 2002 Horry would FLOURISH in todays game.

At worst, prime Kidd would be the second best PG in the NBA. Even in today's era. Not like he played that long ago... Pretty easy to envision how he would fit in.

He's not even a starting caliber PG in my opinion. He's a tweener guard that should be coming off the bench. If Knight is your starting PG, you're not winning many games, especially out West.
