This version of Rock shits on many dudes and it shows you how great the Rock was when people can debate which version is GOAT.

Heck, these are my top 3 Wrestlers of all time:

Corporate Rock
Face Rock
Hollywood Rock

Only downside is this current version of the Rock. He is borderline shooting/kayfabing and don't like that.

Jeff's merch sales are always more than other TNA wrestlers' merchs combined with what he already is. Mic skills may not be very important for him.

Rock got carried by fcking John cena in his last 2 WM matches lmao, Punk did as well.. Rock was past his prime but if had any technique at all he wouldnt have looked as bad as he did. He is still physically there outside of cardio. Look at some of the other old timers past their prime that could atill carry matches. he was never known for carrying feuds in matches he was like HHH in that respect just a much better talker and personality that trips

Rock had an insane peak, but his movie career killed any GOAT talks. Plus, he got out-popped by SCSA damn near every time they squared off as faces. That makes it pretty clear who the king of the Attitude Era was, and it wasn't Rocky.

Austin was king from 98-00. Rocky owned 00-01 though, and then the next couple years after that.

The Rock was a good worker. If you put him in there with somebody good he'd usually have a good match. That's more than you can say about a lot of guys. He got the job done.

I think the problem with when he came back was not only being rusty. His build was totally different. In his prime he was never a big guy, when he came back he was massive but he still tried to wrestle his old style which was fast paced, athletic stuff. He just wasn't built for that anymore and got gassed. He should have switched it up and worked slower but whatever.

JohnnySic
06-30-2015, 08:59 AM
People forget that the fans hated and rejected the Rock at first. It took him several years to find a gimmick that got him over.

Goldberg got over as an unknown during his very first match, and never slowed down. Not many wrestlers in history can claim that.

Also, although Goldberg wasn't Bret Hart or Kurt Angle in the ring, his power and intensity was among the most impressive of all time.

Knicks101
06-30-2015, 09:06 AM
Who forgets that? Also no, it took The Rock like a year to get over. Goldberg definitely slowed down and fizzled out. :oldlol:

Smoke117
06-30-2015, 09:27 AM
Except he couldn't wrestle...or he never showed any wrestling skill. You can't be anywhere close to the GOAT if you can't even put on good matches consistently. You want to say goat star...okay, but goat wrestler? You actually have to have some kind of technical ability in the ring to be that. Austin for instance was always very good in the ring up until his knees started wearing and more importantly Owen Hart ****ed up his neck. He hurt the neck before the height of his popularity (first title run and mcmahon angle) so what most people remember is the brawling, stomping Austin. You think Bret Hart would have wanted to work with Austin if that's all he could do? The point is, maybe it is because of when he got big, but The Rock never actually had to do any real wrestling out there. I honestly can't think of one match I've seen of his where I was actually impressed. I can think of a bunch off the top of my head for guys like HBK, Hart and Jericho though. Even a few for Austin as it goes. The Rock was basically like his eras Hulk Hogan. Fans loved him, but he didn't do anything interesting in the ring.

JohnnySic

So Rock dug himself out of that crappy Maivia babyface gimmick and became the most electrifying man in sports entertainment. Wow! Legendary!!! The Great One!

Goldberg got pushed to the moon by doing nothing other than 3-minute squash matches. Once that died out, his hype and his career also died out.

Thank god that can't wrestle for shit only lasted 1 year in the WWE.
When did Goldberg's career "die out"? He was always at the top of the card. In one year he practically became the face of the WWE. Fans were cheering for him over Lesnar who the WWE had spent 2 years building up as "the next big thing". All Goldberg had to do was show up. :oldlol:

He was at the top of the card because they put him at the top of the card. Didn't they turn him heel at one point? He wasn't drawing.

In terms of in-ring wrestling, Rock was a bit underrated as he was one of the best sellers of all-time. People don't seem to give credit to the art of selling.

When talking about Rock's greatness, people usually talk about his mic skills, popularity, etc...but rarely about his in-ring stuff.
He can't even perform Sharpshooter right.

Goldberg Jackhammering Big Show and another on DDP with a severely injured shoulder were highlights.

Yeah, at the end, Goldberg vs DDP is the only career highlight match he has.

I think technical ability is highly overrated especially in the sport of professional wrestling. If this was real life then I would value it much higher. The fact of the matter is, you are only as technical as your opponent allows you to be. The Rock can work a technical match and I have seen him do that during his Maivia days and his short comeback against Cena.

The fact that he can be GOAT status or the GOAT is really a testament to how great he was.

If you guys have ever seen the Rock in person you guys would clearly see why he is GOAT. He moves around the ring so effortlessly, sells his ass off like HBK, and his athletic ability alone is pretty good.

The Rock isn't even the undisputed GOAT in one category let alone overall. The closest he probably comes is charisma but you could make a case for Hogan.

So suddenly in a scripted or fake sport such as wrestling, we are going to have a criteria?

He's only good because of charisma?

This is the scripted game....there is no way of evaluating these guys on technical ability. Everyone has technical ability if allowed to.

Therefore, something like charm, charisma and mic skills are the defining factors to GOAT.

Look at someone like Flair, he wrestles the same match and style every time but people consider him GOAT. Heck, if Flair is GOAT, then the Rock is GOD.

If ring work is as unimportant as you say (nonsense, but I'll play along)...

Hogan >> Rock

Hogan was a terrible wrestler, but he carried two organizations to the top spot in two separate decades, once as a face and the other as a heel. He held the top spot FAAAAR longer than Rocky as well.

I much prefer Rocky to Hogan, but those are the facts.
