View Full Version : to LAL fans, should we do Russel for Cousins after we acquired LMA?

all these are just hypothetical assumption.
if we managed to land LMA through FA.
then we have:
Russel, kobe, Wes, LMA, Hill - backup. JC (PG/SG), Randle(PF)
seems bit waste for JC and Randle, cos they are now only have limited time to develop, and i am not sure how good the rotation plane is by Scott.
and if they do not developed as how most of ppl expected, their trade value will decrease.
If they do not developed well enough, i doubt amount of fire power they can provide off the bench.
good thing: we still got flexible CAP space to give a shot on KD next year, but i dont even think he's interested in LAL.
upside - Russel + LMA with solide backup JC + Randle
downside - gamble on unproven rookies.
ok now,
if we land LMA, what if we offer Russel + Randle + fillers + cash/pick for Cousins?
we will get:
JC, Kobe, Wes, LMA, Cousins. - Backup Lin, Ed, Sacre
i am sure that's a playoff team if things work out..
Cousins can focus on defend, while LMA, JC and KObe provides firepower.
Cousins is not a bad defender, it's just that he has to carry entire King's offense and defense. The guy's drained out. If he can just focus on defense as much as possible, I am sure he can hold the paint area.
Down side - Bench.. We gotta sign few reliable pieces.. and cap space..
upside - core of JC + LMA + Cousins, FK YEAH.

Russel + Randle for COusins would be retarded
no pun intended

I'm content with a lineup of:
Russell/Clarkson-Bryant-(Danny Green or Khris Middleton?)-Randle-Aldridge

Move Lin and Hill
If we can land Cousins with Russell, I wouldn't mind honestly

Aldridge on C? He would probably end up in hospital after all the beating from other C..

One of either Aldridge or Jordan, and I'm ok watching the team as is. You can always trade later. Why not see if we have something worth not trading.

if we can land Jordan,
then my prefer line up will be:
Russel (PG), JC(SG), Kobe(SF), Randle(PF), Jordan(C).
defense seems bit shaky..
and is randle able to provide fire power?

why?
cos we need interior defense and rebound security?
unless u decide to put LMA on C and Randle on PF.

so you're suggesting the lakers spend 80+million on an elite big man so they can then trade away one of the top draft prospects away for another elite big man because the one they're spending 80+ million on isn't good enough to get the job done
makes perfect sense

Ya I rather have this.
I wouldn't mind second-tier centers (e.g. Lopez, Chandler, or Asik) either.

with LMA himself in the pant wont get thing done, that's for sure.
look at grizzlies, clippers, rockets, marc + zbo, blake + DJ, dwight + dmo.
warriors shoot the light out, spurs has team ball.
wolves got peko alone, OUT. portsland got LMA alone, OUT. Pelicans got AD lone, OUT. Marvs got Chandler + Dirk just managed to get to playoff, barely. Cavs got Moz to get to this far. Bulls got Pau + Noah to get to that far.
and dont make it sounds like Cousins is scrub. He is much greater than that top draft pick.

I like Asik. He's also one of valid option!

if sign and trade isn't an option, a 20 min center and a back up PF that we can keep is going to help the 2 draft picks develop more than anything else

hmm. Monroe is Pf/C, but that of course when Drummond is locked on C.
i highly doubt we can land him, since he's also FA, and we only afford to land 1 star player this time. I think i prefer LMA > monroe.
Bynum, pls stay away.

maybe wait a year for hibbert, say what you want about bynum but outside injuries he played well in LA

i dont even mind the injure, but he's running wild after he left LA, i doubt he will be back to how he used to be, especially once kobe retired, who's gonna control the guy? he will think he's the boss.

No, because LMA isn't coming to LA. The Lakers should just let the young guys develop.

No we should do Randle+Clarkson for Cousins. If thats not enough try to trade both of them for somebody else.

It wouldn't work. LMA and Cousins are scoring big men that love to score. Neither is a defensive liability but neither really puts forth the effort to be better. If the Lakers somehow get LMA, I say you go for a Solid big man that blocks shots and rebounds. Tyson Chandler type.

Why the **** would you trade for Cousins....then have him focus on defense. Much cheaper to get Cousins, unleash him on offense, and sign someone with length and energy to take the tough assignments.
I'd rather have Russell, Randle, and LMA then Cousins and LMA
