Believe what you want.. looks like a LEGIT PG who carried Ohio to a winning record.. now he has the entire Lakers front office/training staff as well as a mentor in Bryant (hopefully).
This episode was taken a few weeks before the draft.

skip has credibility whether you clowns wanna admit it or not
ethers stephen on a regular basis
helped cure johnny manziel's alcohol issues
Did that bald Mr. Potatohead-looking fat fck said PGs are the least versatile? :biggums:
You need a big to contend for a championship but guards and perimeter SFs/wings have so much higher ceiling to become superstars.

"15% chance of becoming a superstar"
What kind of stat is that shit? :oldlol:
All that really says is "Our really impressive analytic department made up a number that says Russell should be a top 3 pick"
Can't believe how awful that First Take was without Steve A and Skip.
Say what you want about SAS and Skip but they're really really good at being bad. They're like those terrible movies that are so bad that they're great for laughs.

Not saying much, the other Russell would be as good as Ben Wallace now adays.

Ohio State has one of the best programs in the country. To say he carried them to a winning record seems a little ridiculous. In fact, this was sort of a down year for OSU if you look at it relative to the Thad Matta years.
2005: 20-12
2006: 26-6 (NCAA 2nd Round)
2007: 35-4 (NCAA Finals)
2008: 24-13 (NIT Champions)
2009: 22-11 (NCAA 1st Round)
2010: 29-8 (NCAA Sweet Sixteen)
2011: 34-3 (NCAA Sweet Sixteen)
2012: 31-8 (NCAA Final Four)
2013: 29-8 (NCAA Elite Eight)
2014: 25-10 (NCAA 2nd Round)
2015: 24-11 (NCAA 2nd Round)
Russell looks like a nice prospect, but people are getting a little crazy with the hype, imo. I guess it is a Lakers thing.

Ohio State wasn't too talented last year. Think that was the point.
I like Scott. I kind of wanted Roy to recruit him because he was a high-major legacy recruit and all. But he was basically a poor man's Craft and, personally, I always thought Craft was stupid overrated. Thompson never developed. All potential. Williams never developed either. McDonalds AA and he couldn't even be a major rotation guy by his senior year.
The team was basically Russell carrying them, some steady play from Scott, and McLovin coming in hoisting 3s. Maybe they go in that game. He really cooled off once conference play started. Russell on the other hand had to go 20+/6+/6+ from about January to the end of the season, and he did.

It definitely wasn't one of their better teams and losing Craft and LaQuinton Ross were tough to overcome.
But, I thought they had enough talent around Russell to do better than a 10-seed in the tournament and I was disappointed with the way D'Angelo went out against Arizona. He was pretty bad in that game.
I've said he reminds me of Manu Ginobili in a lot of ways and that's high praise for me, so I do expect him to be very good. I'm just concerned that the hype is getting a little too big around him and he'll disappoint people if he doesn't immediately go out there and put up 18/5/5. I don't think he's going to be that kind of player right away and that it will take a little time.

Yea I honestly dont' know what to think because I've seen very little of OSU as I live in the south so it's all about Kentucky/Duke/North Carolina and Okafor/Duke winning the national title. I will say from just the 5-10 min highlight tapes of him he's really surprised me with his athleticism, IQ and just overall aesthetic type of player as one poster pointed out. Not saying that always works out but if people think it's beautiful watching you play it's not exactly a bad quality... everything else I trust in the scouting reports.. both from Lakers and non-LA sources and everyone on the Lakers end seem to have bought in. I believe Jerry West said he would be a 15-time all-star.. and that's not something Mr. West would say just to make a statement or even to play games with the media.. he's not that type of manager/scout.. he will actually go into the high school and european level games and sit for all 4 quarters to see every minute of a prospect play.
And yes anyone comparing to Manu is very high praise in itself.. I just have a lot of confidence in the Lakers training staff to get the most out of every player they get ala Bynum, Odom, Bryant, etc.
