Suffering from "hip tightness" after the NBA draft work outs. Seems odd considering they were a while back now and the summer league is still a while away too. I'm on the Kristaps bandwagon but it's not a good sign for a big who has a lot to prove.

Your 3rd overall pick big man has a hip injury before he ever plays a game? Not a great sign.

Summer League is pretty pointless for a guy like Porzingis anyways. I wouldn't read too much into it. Hell, the Knicks may feel that the best course of action is to keep his game out of the public eye until they've had a little time to work together. With the uproar over this pick and him still being a teenager, that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Hope that's the case. Seems strange to me that he can play with out injury in europe but then needs like 2 weeks recovery from NBA draft work outs.

Will that 3 inch stud over in Philly miss the Summer League due to bruised ego?
You heard it here first on ISH.

I wouldn't be worried. I obviously have no idea whether the injury is legitimate or not, but I would guess not. This kid has a heavy glare on him right now. It would probably serve him well to get accustomed to this level of basketball behind closed doors for now.
I think Porzingis has the chance to be a beast, btw, and I liked the pick. It was bold.

I can see it now...
Reporter: "This is an ESPN breaking news report. Knicks power forward, Kristaps Porzingis, picked 4th over-all in the 2015 NBA draft, will miss the remainder of the 2016 NBA season due to a broken toe nail and pinky finger soreness."

I wanted him in Orlando and was looking forward to seeing him, I don't think his Dirk or Darko though he's got a different skill set to both those guys. I think long term he won't be a super star but he'll be a repeat all star and a very valuable player to have. The only reason I don't like the knicks taking him is that they look to be trying to win now, putting a guy like Porzingis in that situation could stunt his growth if he doesn't get the minutes he needs and if he doesn't immediately translate in to wins.

Completely different. He's a very unusual talent. I don't really think there's anyone quite like him in the NBA. An athletic 7-foot-2 teenager who has range beyond the three-point line and can protect the rim?
Truth is, chances are he will fall somewhere between Darko and Dirk. You are talking about one of the biggest busts of all-time and probably the best European basketball player ever.
But, I was a little surprised at the backlash over the pick. I mean, it wasn't exactly a reach. With KAT, Russell and Okafor off the board, it was either going to be him or Mudiay, I thought... and I would have taken Porzingis. There's no one the Knicks could have taken that would really help them "win now," imo. They'd be best off trading Melo, but it won't happen. Embrace the tank.
Hezonja is a wild card, literally. Orlando has a really interesting team now that they've picked up arguably the best pure shooter in the draft. They're a League Pass team for sure.

Just so we're all on the record here for future bumping purposes, who would you have taken over Porzingis at 4?

it's not like he was gonna miss the chance to represent his country in the eurobasket just to play against some teenagers anyway

Yeah I can see the disappointment if you were hoping for someone who isn't a project but the only guys I see as contribute now type guys that were on the board don't have any where near as high a ceiling as Porzingis imo. Plus the knicks don't exactly have a line up that is one piece away from winning either. The hate he got though and even the posters here who still think he's a Darko stumps me.
Hezonja was second on my list (behind Porzingis) for Orlando so I'm glad we got him. Regardless of how well our core develop we should have some interesting and exciting line ups on the floor even if we aren't winning. Payton, Oladipo, Hezonja and Gordon on the court at the same time is a lot of athleticism and everyone one of them can switch to cover multiple positions. If Gordon can become a rim protector we could have some really fun small ball line ups.

He's already played in leagues like Spanish League and Eurocup (2nd tier European league).
Summer league is a joke. There is no reason for him to even need to play there anyway.
Good god, NBA only fans are such freaking idiots.

Hezonja is a pure shooter, but he isn't the best pure shooter that was drafted. Because the Hawks drafted his teammate from the second team on Barca (from the Barca developmental team of Spanish 2nd division), Marcus Eriksson, and everyone in Barca's system and in Spain considered Eriksson to be a better shooter than Hezonja.
They even in Barca compare Eriksson to the level of shooting of Juan Carlos Navarro. Hezonja is a pure shooter, but he's not at Navarro's level of shooting ability. So Hezonja wasn't the best shooter in the draft, regardless of whatever Fran Fraschilla claimed.

Porzingis has been playing Pro ball for years now. Summer League is inferior to him.
This dude is ready to dunk on guys like Lebron, Bosh, Davis.

Summer League stats mean nothing. But he dos need to play as much as possible. So it isn't meaningless for his development.

For 3 years. Don't make it sound like he's been playing professionally for 10 years or something.
