Great pickups to help their weak bench (as evident by the Finals).

The Spurs and Warriors will still be more talented, but this is a step in the right direction

Seems ... impossible.

One of the things being discussed amongst Cavs fans is Mills/Splitter for that Haywood contract as the Spurs are looking to unload salary. Mills would be a very nice piece coming off the bench.

I'm not sure if Splitter would be used in some other deal or if the Cavs could actually find minutes for another big with Love/Tristan/Mozgov/Varejao all on the roster next year ... but hey, you can never have enough good players.

It's a longshot that Dunleavy leaves Chicago. If he does, I'd love to have him in the role James Jones played this past year. As for Derozan, I fail to see how that happens.

Injury insurance for Andy V, perhaps (he always seems to be)?

Yeah, like I said, you can never have enough good players and I've always admired Splitter's versatility from afar. Basketball is heading into a more positionless era by the year anyway, so the fact that we would have so many bigs isn't necessarily a problem. As long as they each bring something a little different to the table, they can help.

The only thing that makes me uneasy about those rumors is that I'd hate to help San Antonio sign LMA, but hey... if it is going to happen, might as well get something out of it. The Celtics got Zeller off of us last year in a similar situation when we were clearing space for LeBron and he had a really nice season.

This Derozan thing is ridiculous, though, if I do say so myself. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong, but it ain't happening.

The Derozan rumors seem especially unreasonable to me. The Raptors are gonna want more than a salary dump for a 25 year old 20ppg scorer even if he did have something of a down year.

Right?

I can almost see the Avery Bradley stuff since the Celtics have a bunch of redundant players, but Derozan for an expiring contract?

Just... really?

I don't see DeMar coming off the bench and if he wants that big deal, he's starting.

He'd basically be taking JR Smith's role off the bench. No way I'd put a high usage guy like that with a starting lineup that already includes Kyrie, LeBron and Love.

No aspect of that move makes any sense.

1 all star starter and 1 all star reserve = the East all star team?

Cavs had/have 2 of last years east all stars

The Hawks have 4 all-stars for a point of reference

Yeah, DeMar's game wouldn't really fit with LeBron leading the way. He needs 3 point shooters and off ball guys I the starting lineup.

I think DeMar is staying where he is for the moment.

Too bad Perk still isn't on contract. Could probably pair him and Haywood for DeRozan, Val, Johnson, and maybe a 2018 second.

As people have already said in this thread, I don't understand getting DeRozan. But Dunleavy would be an upgrade over James Jones.

Dunleavy would be a great fit, even at 35. Still a dead-eye shooter and a big body with length. I've always liked him as a guy to put alongside LeBron. Still, I'd say there is about a 75% chance he stays in Chicago.

If he did leave though, I think we'd be the spot.

This is about LeBron for 90% of the posters here. I couldn't care less. I want the team to have as much "help" as possible. Bring it on, help.

Ball's in your court, help.

Let's say the Clippers suddenly need cap space for some reason. DeAndre wants a big deal and they have someone else lined up, but are $10+ million short. Is there any way we can get Redick?

He'd be the perfect 2 for this team. Come on, help. Do your thing.

Well, he did take a step back this past season after breaking out in 2014. But, yeah... he won't be coming off of any benches. I don't even think I'd want him, because he wouldn't be happy in that role, it could cause lockerroom problems and there are better fits who would happily accept coming off the bench on a championship-caliber team.

It's a pipe dream anyway.

He'd be a horrific fit, true. My dude cannot shoot and you're on a LeBron team? He'd be a useless starter and he's not going to be on the bench either. Makes no sense.

The deal the Cavs should be making is for Joe Johnson / Bogdanovich

Varejao, Haywood, Miller for JJ/Bogs

Kyrie - Delladova/Mo Williams
JJ - Bogdanovich
Lebron - Dunleavy
Love/Thompson
Mozgov / Varejao

Mills would be such a great sparkplug off the bench and you guys could limit Kyrie's minutes during the RS. Could even rest him for a week-long stretch to keep him fresh.

If Griffin pulls that off, look out NBA lol.

The article doesn't even talk about DeRozan going to the Cavaliers. It just mentions in 2016 when the cap goes up he's going to seek a $25 million contract and the Raptors don't want to flip that bill for the caliber player he is so he might get moved or go elsewhere. Cavaliers aren't even mentioned.

Derozan needs to learn who HE IS and who HE ISNT

He's a decent spot-up shooter who can come off the bench, he needs to stop with all the hero ball iso's, that's why he had a down season. The Cavs would be a perfect situation for him

Why do you feel that Dunleavy would rather stay with the Bulls than play in Cleveland? If I were his age and had been on several teams I would probably make the switch and give myself the best chance to win. He must be looking at Mike Miller and thinking "man....I can do so much better than that guy!"
