View Full Version : If MIA lets Wade walk, how does that make them look to FA in the future

if they aren't willing to compensate Wade for his loyalty, greatness and financial sacrifice he's already made??
IMO if they let Wade walk that won't reflect well to possible FA in the upcoming years.. if they aren't willing to take care of Wade that will be a really bad look.. good luck attracting another big name FA anytime soon after that..

Oh look it's another thinly veiled attempt at justifying Pensionbe's ridiculous contract. Do carry on.

I don't think players are worried about what happened to Dwayne Wade when they have a chance to sign a 9 figure contract to play in south beach

because so many people were lining up to play there before Wade..
after Jordan left the bulls after having problems with the FO they weren't able to attract another free big agent until.. Gasol..

Wade isn't leaving.
well that would be why the OP says IF.
IF Wade leaves because they don't want to shell out a contract that multiple other NBA teams would get in line to give Wade that would be a terrible look.

Does nothing.
Miami needs to figure out what's in their best interests as an organization and basketball team. That will decide who wants to come to play for them and who doesn't, which will have lot to do with the product on court. The destination itself if the FA player in question does favour will only be a bonus.

This is a huge reach. Miami will always be an appealing destination for free agents.

22/5/4 in 32 MPG in his 12th season...
Your boy Leonard will never sniff 22 PPG in his life.

Riley's pitch to any FA will include references to Zo and Timmy Hardaway...both who sought additional funds from Riley and the Heat, and were shown the door because they weren't deserving of the contracts in question.. He would then point to their positions in the Heat front office today and loop in how those that sacrificed for the team are rewarded heavily on the back end.
There's no worries in Miami, and Wade leaving still leaves some change to chase a replacement for him and still sign a superstar like KD to the max

It also takes another team to actually bid on Wade. There have been no reports on any teams willing to pay Wade what he was reportedly seeking from Miami.
Which means when the Bucks or Lakers offer Wade $10M/yr for 3 years Miami will come in and offer $11M/yr for 3 years and let Wade play the villain if he so chooses.

Umm, while he isn't in his prime, he certainly isn't "trash" now
Wade in 2015:
22-5-4 on 47% with 1.2 spg
Comparable players in 2015:
Irving: 22-5-3 on 47% with 1.5 spg
Klay: 22-3-3 on 46% with 1.1 spg
Lillard: 21-6-5 on 43% with 1.2 spg

Well he will when Pop lets him loose, he's shown he's more than capable.
Spurs stars stats are skewed because they actually play team basketball.
