There aren't many black people in west michigan to begin with, and in general, minorities aren't too into natural resources. This also started as a now defunct music festival geared towards jam band hippy-shit; not a big black guy market either.

Nothing in the original article mention black people one way or the other. So where you'd get that from? It wasn't from the pictures you chose because they contain black people.
