View Full Version : Will Hibbert be a Pacer by the end of the season?

Roy "big ass oaf" Hibbert opted in last week, keeping him with the Pacers for one last year (15 mil?). But it's no secret that Indy wants to play at a more uptempo pace. So, one would think that Hibbert and his expiring contract are on the market.

Do you see any teams taking him for a one year rental? Or will he ultimately stay with the pacers?

if we strike out everywhere, id consider him. He's the kind of rim protector you need next to Randle. Hopefully Pacers would be willing to take Young, Kelly, and Sacre :lol

Lakers are young, so you gotta play young and have a fast pace game. Half court games with Hibbert = total loss. I would imagine the offense becoming stagnant. Our athletic PF and PG would not do well with a clogged paint.

I still think Tyson Chandler would be a good option.

Knicks should offer Calderon for him. Isn't Sacre a FA anyway? Kelly expires next year, so Indy probably has no problem taking him imo.

Getting a defender of Hibbert's quality who's about to hit a contract year is a good gamble by a team that needs to really boost wins due to a likely loss of a draft pick next year. If they can't land a stud this summer, it allows for 3 maxes next year. That's enticing to me.

Edit: Overpaying for a 1 year deal to Tyson Chandler isn't a bad move either imo, I just wonder if he wants to be on a lotto team.

Considering he has just a one year deal, would be a great opportunity for a rebuilding team to unload some deals that don't fit in to their long term plans. Or any team, for that matter.

I dunno the system that these teams run, but based on strengths of players on the roster, "good" fits for Hibbert would be...

Charlotte - post defender is not Al's calling card

NO - Not a rebuilding team, but would allow Davis to roam more on D

Portland - Assuming they lose Aldridge, sign a relatively cheap stretch 4 and trade for Hibbert. Tobias Harris? Won't be cheap, but he's young enough to still improve.

NYK - Especially if Melo plays the 4. But he'd be a solid option inside and, with Melo still on the team (:facepalm ), they're not a running team.
