Please get this shit done quickly. Dragic and Wade all in one day.
Without having to move Birdman, McBob or Rio.
My favorite player staying with my favorite team in the best position they can be in.
How likely is it that we can move some players and bring in another formidable piece? Or are we just capped out?

they're likely moving them regardless...especially if the direction is to land a superstar next year. Rio and Bird will be traded for cap space
Over 18mil/year for an often-injured, must be on a maintenance plan player? Riley is crazy.

U mad? Go be a Cavs fan.
Wade County.
It would be strange to see Wade in another uni. I'm curious to see how they will do at full strength with Bosh back and finally playing with Dragic. I'm also wondering if Whiteside will play at the same level next season after catching teams by surprise last year. Could be a wildcard team in that horrible Eastern Conference.

if those figures of $18mil per and not front loaded heavily, yea i am...as it handicaps our future in winning anything for at least 3 yrs
hope he gets max, or at least 4 year 80m. He deserves it.

just taking care of a Miami legend. trying to show lebron how riley treats his guys even after they're done. wade would get at most a 3 year 10 million deal from another team and riley gave him that times 5. Plus you know Wade is gonna have a job within the organization if he wants it

it does...we have to pay Whiteside next year, we just paid Dragic, and with Wade having $18 mil per, we basically shoot any chance at landing a big FA next summer
again...only way we can even think about a descent FA next year is if this deal is heavily front loaded

if you think just Bosh and Dragic are the pieces, no...but since there are more tangibles like this:
Whiteside
Bosh
Justise
Wade
Dragic
all that is certainly viable to land a player like KD, at max salary and in the East...that contract, if true at $18m per is basically saying fck the future title contention

Why wouldn't they just front load the contract this year...pay a little tax...prove you take care of your players....
Give Wade a player option after year 2....and just assure him he'll be taken care of again if they need him to opt out for cap purposes at any point.
Just seems like a decade plus relationship should have the juice to make everyone happy here and still give them enough money to sign whiteside and chase Durant.
It's not even close to impossible or anything.
They'll get this done.
Also, Whiteside could be out of the league in a year...not like that would shock the world or something. He's nice with loads of potential, but you don't screw Wade over for the potential to sign Whiteside.

if Wade gets big chunk of it without a front loaded contract, we wont have a shot at KD...he's going to demand the max, as he should

you know what else was a pipedream...2010 with the Big3. you don't deny the chances if someone like KD becomes availabel and you have the roster and cap space to lure him.
and Miami had enough cap space to get KD at the max...where are you getting the info we didn't?
it's been reported that even with Bosh's contract, signing Dragic to his deal of $90m and even Wade to something front loaded, there would be enough money to give KD a max and still take care of Whiteside.

So you'd want Wade to leave and pretty much forfeit the East to the Cavs? At least Wade gives Miami a title shot this year which is much more important than freeing up the cap so they can have a sitdown with Durant NEXT year. No guarantees. And Whiteside is still a maybe so why not take care of Wade?
Dragic/Chalmers
Wade/???
Deng/Winslow
Bosh/McRoberts
Whiteside/Birdman
That's at least 8 deep and 9 if Winslow has an impact year. You gotta try 100% for the title even though it lessens your shot next year. Wade is still going to give you close to 20/5/5, and he's in the best shape since 2011. If they can get Lou, Belinelli, or even Gerald Green at a cheap price, that just sweetens the year.

You clearly don't have a grasp of the salary cap.
Salary cap in 2016 will be about 90 million. The Heat will have JUST enough to re-sign Whiteside. And I mean just enough.

Before agreeing to a new deal with the Heat, Goran Dragic asked Pat Riley how he could be flexible to help them re-sign DWade
That's a nice thing to do.

1 yr vs 5yrs...what do you rather?
i have no issue flirting with early round knockouts for a couple years if it means title contention for basically the next 4-5yrs after.
we did it in 2008 and 2009, got 4 great years from 2010 to 2014...so why not give a little to gain a lot later. that's just my view on always wanting to win and stay winning.
we can pretty much be assured that even with the team constructed now, there's a highly unlikely chance we get past the Cavs...their pretty deep to overcome at full strength.
and I have no issue if they want to pay Wade...but only if it's front loaded so it DOES NOT reduce our chances on giving KD a blank check next summer. if the contract is anything like the $18m per...we lose that chance, and i hate the move. i already hate overpaying him on the whole but if they do overpay him, it has to front loaded for us to even sniff title contention.

Salary cap in 2016 will be about 90 million. The Heat will have JUST enough to re-sign Whiteside. And I mean just enough.
with Wade at $18m per...that is correct, they can truly only go after Whiteside.
however, had he opted in or if his current contract is front loaded and the 2yrs after are around $10m per, we have the best chance to land him
Money wise:
Dwyane Wade: If D Wade opts out, and is given the 1 year $23.5 million dollar deal, he still would have to sacrifice one last time next season, but I can see him doing so, considering it's for the real chance of having Durant on your team.
Goran Dragic: The Dragon can get a maximum 5 year $116 million from Miami, but will Riley be able to convince him as well for the sake of Durant?
Chris Bosh: Bosh is getting his $23 million no matter what happens.
Hassan Whiteside: Now as great as Whiteside been this past season, I don't think he will excel at a fast enough rate to get a max contract in time for 2016. His potential is high now because it's unknown from such a small sample size from this past season. There may be a handful of bad franchises that may offer him the max, but I don't believe Riley will have to throw max money at Hassan to keep him.
Kevin Durant: Riley might bring his bag of rings and a blank check to make this happen.
Pat Riley has always attempted the big catch in Free Agency. The bigger picture is the only picture worth seeing in his eyes, and seasons are considered wastes of time if you aren't competing for a championship. Riley will probably tell his star player for the past 12 years about sacrificing one last time. because all parties involved can benefit with a championship.
For Riley and the Heat, it's not just about compensating Dwyane. but also contending with Durant. That Gatorade commercial had D Wade and KD being each others nightmare. But to Pat Riley, both of these guys are a part of his dream.
The 2016 dream.

that is what i said...after year 2...meaning a player option in year 3.
yea...i agree on whiteside
i'm saying that i think the money can actually work and allow them to do everything they want to do if they structure the deal as a front load and Wade buys into being taken care of like he's always been next time as well.
It's that trust between Wade and Heat that would allow this to work.

he will have to sacrifice the back end of 2yrs at around $8-10mil now...and max out on this upcoming year...very much agree. then the Heat can and certainly will take care of him in the front office as they did Zo and Timmy. this is the Heat way for some time now.
i surely do hope it is exactly this and not something to ruin our chances at future contention.

if healthy they are a title contender in the east
yea, they can surely make a run for it...but I don't see a full stength Cavs losing to this Heat squad. the Cavs are better at every position except SG and have a deeper bench, and even Wade is susceptible if he has high miles in the season. and when on minute restrictions, he's came up short too.
i have no issue going full out this year with Wade...but it has to be on a front loaded contract or it's just a wasted effort to see Wade be happy and the franchise stay out of the Finals for a good few years.

1 year of a guarantee quality roster > 5 years of not knowing..Dragic will be 30, Bosh will be 32, and Deng at 31 this upcoming year. When Durant comes along, everyone will be another year older. I just don't think Miami have enough in them to attract Durant when Wall and Beal are headed into their prime and even the Thunder have a brighter future. I'm not saying it's not possible, but to me it's definitely less than 10% and 0% if Durant wants a long-term 5 year max deal. Plus, Durant's foot injury should be a cause to pause.
The smart move is to bank on this year all-in and if Whiteside makes that jump, resign him. About the Cavs, I believe the Heat play tougher at most positions and I see them geling better chemistry wise. And you never know when it comes to Lebron vs Wade mentally and emotionally.

KD has already said he has no intentions to go to Washington because it would be too much of a distraction for him. and with the team we have locked in going into next summer, KD would be dumb NOT to even hear Riley out...and that's where the magic happens. if Riley can present this, his box of rings and a blank check with no state tax to KD...i have little doubt he doesnt bite
as for the Heat vs Cavs...I would love it if we could beat the Cavs, it would be amazing tbh. but reality is we just arent as deep...the tougher team thing kind of goes out the window when you see the amount of talent and how deep the Cavs actually are IMO.
btw, Deng will not be a Heat next season unless he takes vet-minimum

A lot needs to work out but the Heat can make a title run this season. Health is of course the #1 concern. Wiltside, Bosh, Deng, Wade, Dragic is an amazing starting 5. Possibly one of if not the best in the league when 100%. If they can find a 3 and D player and Winslow makes a solid impact
