Not a scorer by any means...too small to be a real rim protector, which we desperately need. He's not gonna blow the doors off the Garden by any means, but he's got grit and he's a hustle player from what I remember of his last couple seasons in Toronto (only watching him when he played against the C's mind you).

I'm okay with that money for two years. Had this been a 4-5 year deal for a 28-year old with his resume, I'd be a bit sore.

I've always thought he was better than he showed in Toronto. Dude seemed like mini-Sheed every time I saw him play and I think he breaks out under Stevens.

Resigned Jonas too. Celtics planning on playing combo guards and 4s this year

Like having 27 first pick rounds wasn't enough, now they are signing first round picks players. Those first rounds picks are going to develop just fine rotting in the bench. Or maybe celtics can think they can get a player that actually matter for a fistfull of nobodies.

Eh. These are the kind of people I'm glad are off the board in case things fall apart for Knicks so we don't sign them for $12M a year.

Wow, this one really hits close to home.... :(

Good luck Amir, wish him nothing but the best.

Boston fans you're going to love Amir. He does so much for the team that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. This guy plays winning basketball.

It makes sense for the Raps to not resign him, but it's still sad to see him go. Dude was all class, had nothing but love for the city and organization. A lot better then his stats would indicate too, if he can stay healthy it's a good pickup for the Celts. Health is the issue though, he's only 28 but he's already played 10 seasons in the NBA.

I was looking at that. He's missed 16 games in the last three seasons after missing 18 games in the 11-12 season. Hopefully he's not due for something.

Again, I'd be a bit more upset about the money being spent if this was a long-term deal. Two years for Amir? I can live with that as long as Danny has SOMETHING planned to unload some of these guards for some size (good f*cking luck with that...)

Hopefully there's a team option on the second year. Would be nicer.

Steve Bulpett @SteveBHoop

Deals w/Amir Johnson and Jerebko have non-guaranteed 2nd years. Full story on Celtics' FA pursuits just posted. http://bit.ly/1FScuee

Just what I hoped. Both these signings sound even better now.

Fantastic.

I'm thinking Bass and Sullinger will be gone.

I like this move a lot, amir is a young, high energy guy. We still need a go-to scorer tho.....

He also runs like 84 year old man... And takes 20 mins to get up from falls. Amir was a fan favourite by many in the 6ix but I'm glad to see him go. Clean house Masai.

Stevens will find a way to make Amir very productive. Toronto's coach just seems obsessed with small ball. It's like the bigs on that team aren't allowed to take shots. :oldlol:

wft are we doing :facepalm

great, another 4 to the collection. I guess Bass is leaving.

I realise you can't really tank with stevens at the helm, but this year's draft showed we need higher draft picks.

Amir had his most productive seasons under Casey.

And when they did run small ball, it was usually Amir at center and Patterson at the 4. He isn't a scorer anyways, his strengths are offensive rebounding, screen setting, and being good shot blocker. Good glue to have, but not a starter. He was a starter out of need.
