ESPN NY is reporting that PER Sam Amick, Lamarcus wants to hear what Phil Jackson has to say before making up his mind. WHOA, this could be a HUGE for Knicks if Phil can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Aldridge and Melo would be pretty hot. NY might be back- STAY TUNED!

Good on LMA for at least hearing out the teams he had planned to see.. He is a professional and it's the right thing to do in the end... But let's face it he ain't going to a broken down Knicks team.. What's the point wasting away the last of your prime there before they can rebuild.. No point at all

Reports have it that the Suns made a good impression as well..
But I honestly don't think he will really consider them.. I think the Suns are probably not even in as good of a position as the Blazers to contend.. Even with Tyson on board.. So what's the point in leaving Portland (who can pay him more money) to sign with another middle range west team..
Doesn't make sense
Houston won't have the money to offer what the other teams can so I think that will hurt their chance in the end as well
Dallas.. Has had a terrible offseason so far so I can't see him going there
Lakers are just :facepalm no other explanation needed

It comes down to the Spurs or staying with the Blazers.. It's pretty much a coin flip

Blazers won't get over the hump, Melo and LMA would be an elite duo and they could have enough to get wes as well

Grant/Jose
Matthews/Galloway
Melo/Early
LMA/Zinger
Biyombo/Aldrich

I'm sorry teaming melo with LMA with a bunch of scrub players is not going to win anything..... It's better he just stays with Portland than signing with the Knicks

Why? It's a first or second round exit at best with Portland, or a first or second round exit at least with NY.

Going east, IMO, gives him a far better chance to reach the finals. Playing with Melo might be good for him. I wouldn't want to be facing 46-50 win teams in the first round either.

I see no reason why he would sign with the Knicks over the Spurs and the Suns.

San Antonio offers him a chance to be on a winning team with a great head coach and compete for a title right away, to mix it up with savvy vets and a super talented young player in Leonard.

Phoenix offers him the opportunity to be a franchise player, the face of the team, to play with a quality point guard, to always be a power forward and to be with a developing young roster.

The Knicks are bereft of talent and you essentially would have 3 PF's in Aldridge, Carmelo and Porzingis.

Even in the East that roster isn't going anywhere.

1. Goes east > fighting tooth and nails in the west (see lebron)
2. Triangle offense is perfect for him
3. guaranteed allstar
4. people acting like lma to the knicks are not a winning team... :lol all we need is a big guy to make us relevant again, 50 win team imo, easy ticket to playoffs, only gotta go through the cavs

Maybe if Melo offers him a turn on his wife he might consider signing.

He took a worse team to the 2nd round in 2013 with JR Smith as his 2nd option, and of course Tyson playing like a beech cuz of injuries. LMA would easily be the best teammate Melo has ever had.

Knicks couldn't even lure in David West, LMA would be stupid to go there when they're rebuilding if he wants to win.

They wouldn't be rebuilding if LMA and 1 other mid-tier free agent went there.

Melo and Aldridge aren't a good fit. It would be like Amare and Melo all over again.

I think Aldridge will end up going to the Knicks.

He'll be a guaranteed All-Star, guaranteed deep playoff run, and he will gets lots of touches.

Then in 2016, Thats where the fun begins.
Knicks can sign a legit center to pair him up with (Hibbert,Noah,Horford,Drummond).

Porzingis will have a year under his belt and i'm predicting he'll be for the Knicks what Nikola Mirotic was for the Bulls this year.

They'll also be able to sign some help off the bench.
(OJ Mayo,Lou Williams,Jamal Crawford)

By 2016, they'll have a well formed team and have experience with the triangle.

A roster like this could be really good:

C: Roy Hibbert
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge
SF: Carmelo Anthony
SG: (Afflalo or Matthews)
PG: Jeremy Lin

Bench:
Porzingis,Grant,OJ Mayo, and Lou Williams

Shit, If Phil Jackson has big enough balls he can pull the trigger on taking Rubio and Pekovic off the Timberwolves hands as a salary dump.

Now you have:

C: Pekovic
PF: Aldridge
SF: Melo
SG: (Afflalo or Matthews)
PG: Rubio/Lin

And thats just in year one.

This is not news. If Aldridge didn't like Lakers on the basketball side, he has no reason to like NY either.

I think worse. Amare goes to the basket more and therefore adds something different than Melo. Aldridge and Melo both like getting the ball in iso and pull up for jumpers frequently.

Knicks meeting was cancelled once it became clear NY wanted Aldridge to play center, something he is adamant against doing, per source.
