So now we got the 3rd, 8th, and 12th picks of the 2014 draft. ...Stauskas is penciled in as our starting PG, and is perfect to be developed by Brett Brown.
Okafor can now use his considerable passing skills to pass out to Covington and Stauskas.
It's a good and subtle move by Sam Hinkie. Not spectacular, of course, but it's solid and looks to the future while helping the present.

Maybe Stauskas will play PG here but I doubt it, he's an SG. I am totally for this move but I hope that they don't try and use him at PG. His handle is decent but he's not really a PG. I know that before the draft his agent was trying to sell him as a guy who could be a PG in the NBA but I'm not really sure that's going to be the best fit for him.
He was a good shooter in college but was awful as a rookie. Hopefully a change of scenery and a good coaching staff will help him here in Philly. I like this move and if he can learn to get his shot off, it will finally give Philly some spacing.

Zach Lowe:
Sixers will receive a protected 1st-round pick from the Kings, and swap rights w/ Sacto in the 1st round of two other drafts, sources say.
oh uh, is Saric involved? If he is, I don't know about this deal.

he's not involved
seems like a great move for the sixers and a bad move for the kings at face value

He's not involved and I wouldn't even care if he were. I'm not convinced that he'll be here next year and they may trade him before he even gets the chance to play here. If you are expecting Saric to be a game changer you need to lower your expectations. If you expect him to be a solid, well rounded player then you'll be fine. If you're looking for a point forward or a stretch four, he's neither. He isn't a great shooter, he's really just a power forward who can pass some. While I would love to see him come here, I have a realistic idea of what to expect from him.

It's a salary dump by the Kings since they seem to be bidding for Ellis and Rondo. Good luck with that combination.
And yep, it's not Saric, but it could be PG Micic who is Serbian like Vlade.. If so, it's a good trade for Philly.
Saric showing the other struggling GMs how to get it done.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a star in Saric, but you never know. He shot close to 40% from 3 in the playoffs last year, and maybe he could be a Boris Diaw off the bench.

Any Philly fans wanting Hinkie to try to sign Corey Joseph? Good defender, shot 36% from 3 (ok, not a ton of attempts), but he's young enough to fit their core. Should be affordable and Spurs likely don't match his contract.
Not the biggest backcourt, but CoJo with the first unit and Stauskas as a 6th man isn't a bad look for a team wanting to improve the guard positions with young talent.

His shot was terrible early this season, but I think since January 1st he ended up hitting like 37% from deep on a decent amount of attempts. That's encouraging enough that teams likely have to close out on him I think on C&S (even if he struggles at first like Mirotic with the extended line). Like you said, he won't be a superstar. Really like him as trade bait and even as a young prospect.

Yep, I like Cory Joseph. Maybe BB's Spurs connection would be enough to spry him loose hopefully.
The Negadelphians won't know what hit them tomorrow am when they wake up.:lol

I like Jospeh. He'd probably be more valuable since tanking won't matter if we can just swap into the lotto to replace the Kings for two years lol.

Can someone quickly explain to me why Sacramento is dumping salary -- which includes a second year lottery pick? Do they have a plan or are they just trolling their poor fans at this point?
What is happening?

SAC is poorly managed an is likely making a play for a PG who won't mean shit. I hope it's Rondo so that him, Boogie, and Karl end up in a mafia war.

I think they're making a big push to land 2 of Rondo/Ellis/Wes Matthews. They're being stupid, but I can see why they want to get splashy names. Still a terrible way to run a team imo.

I'm told the foreign players Philly sent to Sacramento are Arturas Gudaitis and Luka Mitrovic, drafted #47 + #60 last wk. 2ND-ROUNDERS, MAN.Even though either guy could be a deep sleeper that becomes a rotation big (major major if), that is so bargain basement-priced for a 2nd year lotto player, future first, and 2 pick swaps. That's beyond hilarious actually lol.

Can I just say that a core of Rondo/Ellis/Cousins being coached by George Karl has meltdown written all over it? There is a legitimate chance that a homicide occurs at some point during the season with all of those egos/tempers. Aggravated assault is almost a given.
The Kings, ladies and gentlemen. :facepalm

I'm pretty sure they have a handshake deal up in the air. Just waiting for the cap space to be cleared.

The Kings, ladies and gentlemen. :facepalm:lol Totally agree, but at least NBA writers will have a year's worth of stories ready to go, I guess
Seems like Kings are very likely to land a couple guys, else they wouldn't have done this trade. I just think this is such a terrible way to create a team. I don't see the fascination with Rondo on this roster. And they got rid of their best pure shooter basically. Any guesses on who's running the Kings after next year's ASB? Cuz I think Vivek will keep the tradition going of displacing guys after a few months on the job haha.
