That's a good deal though, he was the most impressive Celtic during the playoffs.

Celtics getting some good deals, Amir Johnson and Jae Crowder are both solid players.

Less than Aminu per year, 1 more year, and he can actually shoot :applause: I do think Crowder is marginally overrated as a defender, but he's still the best the Celtics have.

By 2017 this deal is essentially the midlevel, too, which is a great pickup. Depending on how it's structured, and if Johnson/Jonas' contracts really are non-guaranteed for 16-17, Danny could have some serious cap space.

Using roster-builder.com, it looks like the Celtics are a little over the cap with these moves, assuming they sign Mickey but not Thornton, and cut Pressey and Babb.

I'm hearing the 2nd year of amir's and jonas' contracts are not guaranteed.

feel a lot happier now.

we probably couldn't get any good free agents, so we will try our luck next year.

We're gonna have to have a damn good year and beat some decent teams out West if Danny is trying to make a free agency play next season. We'll see.

I actually like this signing...and the price will be good once the cap increases...

This is why the Mavs were smart to trade Wright and Crowder though...traded for the wrong guy of course, but we couldn't have paid Crowder 7 million a year...and if Wright had stayed with us...he'd be making 10 million a year from another team.

Feel bad for B Wright...that trade literally cost him like 20 million bucks over the next 3 to 4 years. Good thing is he landed in a great situation and is back at home.

But this is exactly what I was talking about when the Mavs made that trade. We had to make a trade...we couldn't pay Crowder/Wright a combined like 17 million. They simply aren't good enough to go way over the cap or use the cap for that for us.

Clearly made the wrong trade, but had to do something...

As much as I like gerald wallace, we need to get rid of him somehow, that contract is killin us!

He is expiring tbf...

Although; because Crowder has a tiny cap hold, the Celticsdo have ~$6m in space still, so if there's someone out then worth $12m or so they could stretch Wallace to open the room, or attach one of he million picks they have and bump it up to $15m. I don't see that player out there though - would like to see what is left before we make some trades. Save the Wallace space for next year. Only got about $40m on the books for next year and that includes the supposedly unguaranteed Jonas and Johnson.

Crowder is never getting $7m per if he was on the Mavs this past year. Inarguably was more important in Boston than Dallas.

Ehh, perhaps Avery is better overall, but Crowder is more important when Smart could take Avery's assignments

Fair point, but people around the league liked him a lot.

I just wouldn't be so sure about that. Baynes just got over 5 million a year....

3 and D is clearly what teams are coveting the most now. If Aminu is going to land over 7 a year....not much of an argument for a team to not pay Crowder slightly less and lock him in for 1 more year if they need 3 and D.
