So let me get this straight

Kobe takes a 24 million dollar contract that's a 8 million dollar pay cut that leaves the Lakers with only 25 million in cap space and he's a cap busting selfish pig

Wade takes a 20 million dollar contract that's a 3 million dollar raise that leaves the Heat with zero cap space and he deserves it

only on ISH

In case your wondering they both deserved the money they've more than earned it

Wade sacrificed a lot for Miami.

And Wade's contract provides Miami with cap flexibility in 2016. His contract doesn't handicap the team like Kobe's did.

Kobe took a 17 million dollar total paycut last two seasons leaving the Lakers with massive cap space

Too ez next

But also keep in mind, Kobe is a global icon. Wade is a star, but not on Kobe's level. So that's why LA did it.

I think Kobe is getting too much blame though. There's so many ways to make money that players don't need to take a ton of money on a lottery team for money. They can win now and still make money. So that's why the Lakers and Knicks aren't appealing. They don't have a good team to offer. Although LA at least has young pieces with a brighter future.

Way too much of the blame but it comes from professional idiots so what do you expect

Wade's first paycut allowed Riley to land LBJ/Bosh/Miller/Haslem (with collusion from all of them). Then his paycut last summer allowed them to get Deng, McBob, and Granger. Dragic took less $$$ in order for Wade to get more money this year. Wade's deal is also for 1 season, so they reasonably can retool next summer if Wade takes a paycut again.

Lakers have struck out on every top FA they've wanted since Kobe got his new deal. Also, most people assumed Kobe's deal was well above his market value. Maybe it was a paycut from his absolute max, but from a fair market prospective, it wasn't a real paycut.

So, I think that wraps up why people don't have an issue with Wade taking $20M/1 year. I'm not trashing Kobe or praising Wade, but I think that covers all the usual storylines in this topic.

While they still have opened up cap space, they paid top dollar to an old player who misses a lot of games. Kobe is a global icon so I understand why they did it, but even with a pay cut, it's been a nuisance on them. If they signed top players, there would be no room to build well rounded team and a member of their big 3 would be old and injury prone.

It may not have crippled them in terms of being tight on budget, but it's been in their way.

Wade's deal doesn't have any impact on this year's team and provides cap flexibility next year.

More than anything, Wade is not as hated as Kobe. Kobe and LeBron are on another level of love and hate.

Given our recent history, we should probably be thanking Kobe for tying up most of our cap space and scaring off free agents. Think about it for a second... we met with Aldridge twice, who obviously we have no shot of signing. We've also pursued Robin Lopez, Jason Smith, Amare, Monroe, and even made a call to Rajon ****ing Rondo. Our best shot at "rebuilding" is to throw this season away, lose our draft pick, and subsequently have LA riot causing Jim Buss to step down. #Winning

That's still 2 more finals wins than Wade and Kobe combined had without another star :confusedshrug:

Whatever. Last years team would've made the PO's (2nd round or ECF) if Bosh didn't go down and various other injuries. This season's team is making the ECF for sure. Lakers?

Since we are only 48 hours into the offseason I think I'll wait before making predictions but I like the young players a lot.

I've been wrong a bunch of times and I've always owned up to it. I predicted that they would win 50+ last season. The Heat on paper are a very solid team (barring injuries).
