The Spurs winning the title means the warriors would be less likely to stand pat. It also increases the likelihood of Durant leaving after failing to win the title yet again. The warriors can easily sign Durant next summer by simply salary dumping Iggy who will have an expiring contract.

A long term core of Curry, Klay, Durant, and Green is a real possibility.
