MARJANOVIC: “I WANT TO PLAY IN THE NBA”

As he says to Eurohoops.net: “I know about the prospects that exist in Europe, but I want to play in the NBA. I want to wait, and if a good proposition comes from there, I want to try and play in the NBA.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Some info on Marjanovic. He is supposedly,

7'3.5" without shoes.
7'5" with shoes.

Has a 7'8" wingspan.

Weighs 296 pounds.

He is 26 years old.

For my personal opinion, he is the best center in the Euroleague.

However, he has a fatal flaw to his game that due to his enormous size, you have to build your entire team around him both in offense and defense, and that means playing very slow, grind it out, half court basketball.

His Euroleague team, Red Star Belgrade, played that way in order to accommodate him. But they were a bad team, because in modern basketball, you just can't play that slow and be successful. Not in the NBA, where the game is becoming faster, and especially the Euroleague, where it has been faster before the NBA started to play that way.

So even though they had the best center in the Euroleague, they were still a bad team. So I'm not sure what kind of an overall impact he can give to a team.

But, for 5-10 minutes at a time, in a half court grind it out setting, in tough playoff basketball, say not against a team like the Warriors, but against a team like the Cavs and Mozgov - this guy could be a huge weapon for someone to have if the coach would use him properly.

Here's some of what he can do on YouTube:

too soft around the rim

no mobility

no extension

no strength

can only dunk when hes wide open

reminds me of vlade divac without the play making ability or extended range

would only be able to play 25 minutes per game. would be useless in the new nba with the new style/rules/offenses

Arroyo is better than Spanoullis and is always owning him everytime they play against, how can he, Spanoullis, be the best player in the Euroleague?

Also why is a center compared to a point guard? Nobody would make that comparison.

He should stay in minor league just like Bourossis and Sofo. He could try out in the Summer League like Euroleague MVP Joseph Blair or Euroleague Shaq to see if he can make the team. :oldlol:

You are being a bit optimistic, aren't you...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sim_Bhullar

On April 2, 2015, Bhullar signed a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings.[21] Five days later, he made history when he checked in the fourth quarter for the final 16.1 seconds of the Kings' 116-111 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, becoming the first player of Indian descent to play in an NBA game.[22] He scored his first two points on April 8 in a 91-103 loss to the Utah Jazz.[23] Bhullar was not retained by the Kings following the expiration of his 10-day contract.

In July 2015, Bhullar joined the Kings for the 2015 NBA Summer League

I don't think there is a chance in Hell that he sticks.

I wonder if the spurs are considering the counter to the warriors as going HUGE on them?

Go with 3 bigs, move lenoard to the 2 guard and have manu run the point? At some point someone has got to just go giant on them and see if it works.

Let's be real, Brian Scalabrine went over to Europe and shot 73% from 3.

Charles Barkley shot 87.5% from three against the worlds best Europeans in the Olympics.

European teams simply can't compete with American basketball - once European players get good enough they end up playing in the NBA that's how it always was and always will be. All of Europe is one big farm team for the NBA.

Let's be real here, Scalabrine played in one of the by far worst leagues in Europe (Italian League - I mean even the freaking German League is better) and was cut after a short time. This was after he spent an off season trying to get a Euroleague contract and no Euroleague team would sign him.

Let's be real here, Barkley never played against "the world's best Europeans", because no Team USA team has ever played against the world's best Europeans.

They have played against 12 of the 25-30 best players from ONLY Lithuania, or ONLY Greece, or ONLY Spain, or ONLY Serbia, etc., etc.

Never in history has any Team USA player ever played against "the world's best European players".

Let's be real here, you are a moron, liar, and troll of epic level proportions.
