View Full Version : I don't understand why more players don't go east.

Aldridge and Jordan, for instance, hardly had the east in their sights. Ultimately it was between Spurs/Suns and Clippers/Mavs for them. Spurs make sense for Aldridge, but the Suns never did. That is a fringe playoff team right there, with no real benefits of living there (i.e. like no state income tax in Texas). Same with the Mavs for Jordan, had some benefits, but not a contending team, and sure it might fit his interests of wanting to be more of a 2 way guy, but are there no teams in the east that would do that?

In order to win/be a contender in the west right now, you need an all time great lineup, like the Warriors did, or the Spurs do now, or the Thunder almost do. In the east, you can get by on very little. Take the Magic. Do they suck? Sure. But if a star goes there automatically that team can compete for a top 6 seed and a decent playoff run. Add another star and they will contend. In the west, you need literally a perfect team. So what gives?

If you can get by in the east with very little it still doesn't make you a contender. Which is why these free agents would rather go to great teams regardless of conference.

Because the players today don't have the mentality of players who played in the east back in the day like Jordan. Players that didn't know how to lose once they had a team good enough to get to the finals.

Most of the good organizations reside in the West.

That's a little debatable. It's closer than you think.

The last 15 years indicate otherwise.

How many truly good organizations are in the East? Miami and Boston...then what?

The Pacers and Chicago aren't that bad. After Spurs and Lakers, who you got?

Golden State obviously. And then you have OKC, Portland, Dallas, Houston, and Phoenix who have all been able to build competitive teams in the far superior western conference.

Can't believe people still deny the conference disparity. I don't understand.

You're taking me out of text. I said it's closer than you think. And I have no faith in organizations like the Suns, Houston or OKC.

:lol The Bulls are a horribly run organization, even during the Jordan days. They just happened to have the best player ever to carry them.

The only problem I ever saw with Chicago was the lack of spending money. They've put a pretty good product on the floor consistently.

I'm not arguing that the better teams are here in the East. But it's a lot more even comparing the faults of organizations on either side. You're gonna give a rave review to OKC, Houston and Dallas - and then shit on Chicago.

No way, son.

cos every time u play against lebron, it's ur team vs lebron's team + 3 extra refrees.
instead of 5v8, u better off play against other great teams on west but fair 5v5 match.

Well, Deron, Amare and Melo did. They just happened to get exposed in the process.

I'll agree on the Deron point. The other 2 went for the loot with an ill-constructed team.

They ran Phil Jackson out of town, they were terrible for the next 12 years, and the front office is full of politics and drama and they aren't shy about airing their dirty laundry.

Who cares ? Chicago would barely make the playoffs out west and all those west teams shit on them as is except maybe Dallas who we will have to see how jordan accomodates.

East fking sucks.

lol u trolling bro?

Chicago beats any team out West except maybe the Spurs and Clippers

If Delly's toughness causes problems for GSW, theres no way they can handle the Bulls toughness from players 1-12. A Bulls team could easily make a top 5 seed out West, and sneak to the finals as long as they dodge the Spurs and Clippers (Like GSW did this year)

The east is Lebron honestly. No one wants to face a Lebron led team

So it makes more sense to face the Spurs/Warriors/Thunder/Rockets/Clippers?

Well, Deron, Amare and Melo did. They just happened to get exposed in the process.

Deron got bit by the Jerry Sloan curse.
Melo joined a cursed franchise which is destined to suck for 200 years.
And Amare is just never that good. Amare - Nash = trash.
