Isn't 15.3 points, 15.3 rebounds and 7 assists per game one of the coolest statlines for an NBA playoff series ever?

Cool statline that nobody ever pulled in a Finals series - nor his triple-double in 1986.
Very rarely you see a superstar hustling and being as physical as Larry Bird was in that series, take notes...
Young Bird was an extremely gritty mf'er (even more than later on).
Said it many times before, with all due repect to Cornbread Maxwell, Larry clearly was the FMVP on that one...
Main reasons why he didn't take it was because he was very aloof towards the media those days, major no-****s-given attitude while Cedric was the opposite; plus back then you wouldn't even see total rebounds/assists for single players in most boxscores.
Bird played great D, hustled all out, he was easily the best playmaker for the series, 2nd best rebounder (almost rebounded as much as prime Moses), 3rd best scorer... And despite not being consistent with his scoring/shooting, he had some great games, was very clutch, and was the one who closed out the series with a great/clutch game6.
LB was definitely the most important, most valuable player for the winning team, the Celtics.
And Max benefited a lot from all the attention Bird was getting while Larry was setting him up for a lot of bunnies.
Same "situation", at least a decade or so later on? There's no way they don't attribute Bird with the FMVP...
Wonder how badly Kobe or Lebron would get shredded if they put up 3 games of 8, 8, and 12 points in a row in the finals.
We'd never hear the end of it.

-Sophomore player leading his team to a ring, main-man from the get-go (and should've gotten FMVP, would've nowadays).
-Team that was SHITTY and falling apart just a couple of years previously, right before he got there.
-Doing it with basically the same core roster as they had before, new coach and only main addition being Cowens "replaced" by Robert Parish who was already 27 when he joined and not viewed as much.
-Going to the Finals after leading his team from a 3-1 deficit against the best team that year, WHILE outplaying the league's MVP, Dr J.

Lebron got torn apart and pissed on by the media and general public for that series unlike any player ever has.

Look at this boxscore watcher... Never even seen nothing from those Finals yet talks shit  :facepalm
1st one of those 8-points games? Bird also had 13 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Nobody had what you call a great scoring game.
^Celtics won that one in a blowout... Guess Larry should've just stayed in and statpadded his scoring numbers kinda like LeBron does, huh? :confusedshrug:
12-points game he posted 12 rebounds and 8 assists too, major impact on that one... Boston again rolled through in a blowout; shame on Bird for not staying out there to statpad those numbers
How about Bird closing out the series with a 27/13/6 game6 on great efficiency, clutch af in the 4th, scoring 9 of the Boston's 11 points in the decisive late run? :confusedshrug:
Did Kobe or LeBron WIN (yea, Bird's team won) a ring in their sophomore year, as the main-man at that?
Talking shit about a player who:
-As a sophomore player led his team to a ring, alpha-dog from the get-go (and should've gotten FMVP, would've nowadays).
-Was drafted to a team that was SHITTY and falling apart right before he got there.
-Did it with basically the same core roster as they had before, new coach and only main addition being Cowens "replaced" by Robert Parish who was already 27 when he joined and not viewed as much.
-Went to the Finals after leading his team from a 3-1 deficit against the best team that year, WHILE outplaying the league's MVP, Dr J.
...
Hating on a player for actually leading his team to the title as a sophomore, a previously terrible team that didn't change their roster much at all, after outplaying the MVP in the "real" Finals, played great all-around with most attention on him, closed out the series, should've won FMVP... :facepalm
Go look at LeBron's 1st Finals, for example :lol Played like shit and his team got smoked...

He also played with Nate Archibald. And had Bill Walton coming off the bench
Another interesting fact: Bird and LeBron have practically the same career 3PT% in the playoffs. And LeBron had a higher one until he forgot how to shoot threes for 3 rounds this year. Bird was a better shooter than Curry doe

Some terrible remarks right there...
Torn apart for what series, son? 2011? Wait, now you're comparing a player in his PRIME shitting the bed and LOSING after joining two already ESTABLISHED superstars (one a top3/5 player in the league) to a SOPHOMORE who led his team to the title (actually WON), a team that was SHITTY right before he got there and didn't change much of their roster?

Tell me you just didn't compare that...
What are you talking about right now?
Do you realize that Bird was drafted to a team with the 2nd worst record in the legue, a franchise falling apart? Do you realize he instantly changed all of that as the main-man? With basically the same squad and new coach he led them to the best record and the ECF...
Do you realize that Parish was already 27 and not viewed as much when he joined the Celtics? Cowens gone and the main addition being the Chief... Bird leads them to the title as a sophomore. You know that right?
Do you realize DJ only joined in '84 (already past his peak even)? Do you realize McHale was DRAFTED and only started to come into his own by '84?
"And wow, props to Bird for not ditching a team with McHale, Parish, Dennis Johnson, etc." - **** you even talking about?

Right before joining the Celtics/Heat...
One was already 27, putting up 17.0/10.9/1.7/1.6 on .541 TS% with 3.1 TO's...
Never all-star, no MVP votes, no nba-teams...
Wasn't even the clear-cut #1 option on a team that finished with 58 losses!
The other was 26, had just put up 24.0/10.8/2.4/1.0 on .592 TS% with 2.4 TO's...
Multiple times all-star, 7th in MVP voting once, all-nba 2nd...
Already had led HIS team to the Playoffs at some point.

Wanna know the main reason why the name Robert Parish most of the time holds more weight than the name Chris Bosh, to the basketball world? Because of Larry Bird.
