He hasn't played one season in the NBA yet. There is no way to properly rate him.

I really think he's being a bit overrated in terms of expectations, but don't be mistaken the guy is talented. Go watch him play and tell me how many guards his age are seeing the game like he does. Has to improve his finishing ability (like Curry) and we'll see if he's as consistent shooting the ball in the NBA.

Honestly though; how can you not be optimistic as a Laker fan?
This kid is only 19 years of age. He is a good passer and rebounder. He is a good all around shooter. He shot 40% from 3 in college. He has a lot of potential for his age.

I like Russell as a prospect. But for f**k's sake you've got Griff and other dumbass Laker/Kobe fans on here already hyping him as some sort of savior and he hasn't even played an NBA game, yet. Just like with Kobe, all these Kobe stans, who I'm guessing are Laker fans to some extent, are already making it very hard to like Russell.

I would be lying if I said that I am not a tad worried as a Laker fan. He just doesn't have any quickness nor a good first step. Would be encouraging if he had that. But I think he can improve on that somewhat with NBA training.

It looks like his main calling card and weapon will be his passing. I was kind of hoping for more and wanted him to be a scorer first who can also set guys up. But his vision is definitely unreal. He takes chances and sees openings most don't. A lot of turnovers but he sees those openings. He'll figure out that some passes that worked in college won't work now.

I like his shot. He's got a quick release but has little lift on it. But the relase and form all looks right. In the end, everyone knew he wasn't drafted for his athleticism. So his success comes down to skills. And that takes more time to adjust. Only 3 games in, way too early to come to any concrete conclusion.

Most historians think that yes but in my mind there was the actual man he was based on (who wasn't called jesus) and then there's the mythological being who is gods son and still exists. Either way if you draft a guy who's been dead for thousands of years it's still a wasted pick. Maybe they will trade for Len Bias's draft rights?

I don't care about comparing Russell to whatever. I'm not a Christian myself. But it is historical fact that there was a dude named Jesus who was crucified by the Romans which kickstarted Christianity. And I guess technically you're right, Jesus was called "Yeshua" back then.

I don't even know why I am arguing, it just annoys me when people don't believe in facts.

Did you even read my post? I and most historians consider them two different entities now. Yes there was a Jesus who was crucified and a was a gifted preacher who gained a large following but no he was not the son of god and is a not a super powered being. It's a case of a real person morphing in to a myth.

It's the same thing as yes there was a saint named Nicholas but no he did not fly around the world giving out presents and he and santa claus can be treated as two different people.

I still hope he becomes a good back up guy. He has the tools to stick around in the league he just needs to find his niche and his role imo. He definitely isn't a top pick, if he were taken in the 10-20 range and could spend a couple years developing outside the spotlight as a bench guy I think he'd have been ok.
