The fighters should have control over their careers and only fight the fighters they choose. It's stupid to be forced to fight a fight you don't want to. The fighters are the ones putting their health and lives on the line. They should have the choice to choose the fights they want and to not fight the fights they don't want.

LOL i see a lot of people talking about this but it literally means nothing. There are so many titles out there now thats its so diluted. Sure, there are titles that have rich history behind it but is it really prestigious with these farce rankings where dead guys are ranked and titles made up on the fly to sell a fight? These organizations will make up a tite on the fly, just to get that sanctioning fee. Hell, Golden Boy owns the Ring Magazine so you can't tell me theres no bias with that title.
Because all titles are is to look good on paper and to sell a fight to the general public. "Hey its for a title, it must be important!" Just look how people are making this a bigger deal than it is. When it reality, this kind of stuff happens all the time. Technically, you are not allowed to hold two titles in different weight classes at the same time, but Floyd still has the JMW strap. They just make up rules on the fly.
At the end of the day, its more important to look at who they've fought to get that title, than the title itself.

lets be real, the fighters/promoters have full control of their careers. if you have one of the organization's title, I think you should play by their rules. No one is forced to fight. If they don't want to fight the mandatory, they can drop the title or get stripped. to me, thats fair.
honestly, for fans it would be better if the fighters/promoters didn't have complete control over who they fight. we would get much better fights, at the right time. so many fights have either come too late or not at all because of BS politics in boxing. we have seen it before, if there is no real pressure for a boxer to fight a specific boxer, he simply won't fight him.

They do have choices. No one force them to fight anybody.

If only fighters took the time to get more educated on the business side or even surround themselves with educated people like Floyd did.
Floyd had reached a point in boxing where he is bigger than the title. So, he would fight for a title and give it up whenever he wanted. Since he's the best fighter he'd always qualify for another title fight and any fighter would be happy to fight him because they'd make the most money of their careers AND the alphabet organizations were happy to sanction these fights because Floyd holding their belt lent credibility and prestige to their title.
For fighters who are lesser than Floyd, (which is every fighter), they have fight the mandatory and kiss the asses to advance their careers. All the while being treated like cattle, being robbed by managers and promoters and being shit on by asshole fans.
Floyd is a potential pioneer in freeing fighters from their slave contracts with managers and promoters. He's creating an atmosphere where fighters are in charge of their careers, their health and their lives.

Not if you are the champion. If you are the champion, you could just choose easy opponents to keep your title. If you aren't champion, you should be able to choose, but if you only fight easy opponents, you can't move up the ranks.

i mean its not like we care about competitiveness, the best matches, and who the best is in any given sport.

This was expected. He didnt pay the 200k fee, and he woulda had to face bradley jr (if im not mistaken), which wasn't going to happen for floyds last fight.
this isn't really big news, just espn making something out of nothing.......
sooo many black dudes make sooo many excuses for mayweather its sad :facepalm
