The Hawks reached a contract agreement with Justin Holiday Wednesday, according to several people familiar with the situation. The deal is for two years fully guaranteed.

Holiday confirmed the agreement on social media Wednesday night. “I am excited to join the Atlanta Hawks. Thank you for the opportunity,” he posted on Twitter. Holiday also thanked Warriors teammates, coaches and fans in another post.

The addition will give the Hawks needed depth at the wing following the loss of DeMarre Carroll to free agency last week.

Atlanta Hawks agree to contract with Justin Holiday
Holiday, a 6-foot-6, 185-pound shooting guard/small forward, played last season for the Warriors. In 59 games, he averaged 4.3 points and 1.2 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. He also appeared in nine games for the 76ers in the 2012-13 season. Holiday has appeared in 68 career NBA games, including four starts, and averaged 4.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and .9 assists in 11.8 minutes.

Holiday, 26, is another in a string of typical Hawks signings. He enters his prime with a significant upside and is a player the team would have watched in the NBA Development League and Summer League. He has also been described as a high-quality individual off the court.

Holiday, the brother of Pelicans’ guard Jrue Holiday, went undrafted out of the University of Washington. He has played internationally in Belgium and Hungary. He went to summer league with the Cavaliers (2012), 76ers (2013) and Warriors (2104). He has also played in the D-League for the Idaho Stampede and the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Holiday had a career-high 23 points in a game against the Nuggets on March 13 and was with the team when they won the NBA championship last month. Holiday became an unrestricted free agent with the Warriors declined to extend a qualifying offer last month.

Holiday cannot sign his contract with the Hawks until tomorrow or thereafter when the NBA moratorium ends. The Hawks could make additional moves this offseason. The NBA salary cap for the 2015-16 season will be announced Wednesday night.

The addition of Holiday gives the Hawks a roster of 14 players plus the non-guaranteed contract of Austin Daye.

Atlanta are arguably the worst franchise in Pro sports. A complete joke. Can't even sell out games in a 60 win season. Lames.

Give Sacramento 40 wins and they'll sell out. Better is better.

Sell out game after game after game and win a championship in 2002. That's what.

Yeah, Atlanta does. I know right. Quite shocking. By the looks of Phillips Arena during the season, you'd think it was a practice match.... Where are the fans!

If you're gonna troll, do it right, lmao. Lame come backs that aren't even true. Try to be clever with it next time.

FYI, Phillips Arena sold out 31 games last season, averaging 19,700 attendees.

That's what's going to happen if they keep wasting time with players like Justin Holiday and Kent Blowsmore.

They keep taking our can't make the rotation players. First, with Bazemore and now with Holiday. I really liked both of them though and wish em the best.
