Does Cuban start trying to blow up some existing FA deals or get in the middle of the deal to send Hibbert to the Lakers?

he cant do shiiit. Verbal agreements are nothing but dam you fukked them over. Basically shows you're shady but its a business doesnt matter in the long run. Jason Kidd did the same and Hedo Turkoglu to portland

The owners will fix this matter in some way. Move the date free agency begins, letters of intent or something. Too much of a chance for tampering in the current system. Agents owners and even some players can't be happy with what's going down today and as entertaining as seeing Mark Cuban get the shaft is it's an ugly way to do business

Agreed. I think there will be changes.

He could do just what was done to him, hit up an already committed FA and pursue them, kill the trade for Hibbert to the Lakers...etc.

Nikka already got in-between the CP3 trade so I don't think he can do us worse.

At least we unloaded Odom on him...  :oldlol: :lol

He deserves everything he gets...... went cheap after winning the ship and did Dirk raw.

What could they be fined for? DJ didn't sign a contract. It was just a verbal agreement

Nobody mentioned anything about anyone being fined. At least in this thread

true, but I'm just talking about possible repercussions. Have the Clippers done anything that could get them in trouble?

Not necessarily repercussions to the Clippers, but what if Wes Matthews decides he doesnt want to go to the Mavs, what if Hibbert goes to the Mavs or Cuban throws more money at Robin Lopez to not go to the Knicks..etc

True but I'm just wondering about legal repercussions. Did the Clips do anything against the rules? I've seen people in other threads saying the Clippers should be fined, but I have no idea why.

The only repercussions that come from this is The Players will have even less wiggle room in Free Agency , rules will be changed. Cuban is the ultimate whistle blower amongst the owners , along with Dan Gilbert. Best believe the grace period to sign will be shorter now and you'll probably have to sign a letter of intent as some have mentioned already.

This was a circus , even more so than usual and I doubt all parties involved aside from The Clippers are happy about it. Especially Silver and the league office , they must be fuming right now.

Another Lockout is pending, owners wouldn't want what is happening to the Mavericks to happen to them. Verbal agreements are going to have to change, I wouldn't be surprised if the league let players sign their contracts anytime during free agency.

For the Clippers, they're the laughing stock of the league, again. From the playoffs up until now, they are just pathetic.

For the Mavericks, I wouldn't be surprised if Mark Cuban spent the entire season protesting this injustice action to Adam Silver. While at the same time the Mavericks would tank the season.

So who else has a verbal agreement in placed? Did LA, Millsap or anyone else officially sign?

I don't think any UFA can sign before midnight.

I think guys that are RFA (Anthony Davis) are able to sign whenever

This can get ugly. Players could deliberately sabotage other teams and leave them stranded. This can't be allowed to happen. This is an UGLY stain on the NBA - lack of integrity and professionalism - what a role model for kids.

Other players verbally agree on contracts knowing other players will be on that team eg. I highly doubt David West comes to SA if LMA didn't verbally agree.

Actually Anthony Davis was a contract extension, so I'm wrong on that part

Nothing. Verbal agreements aren't binding.

What the NBA needs to do is end this moratorium garbage, and allow free agency to start when pen can actually be put to paper.

Look for mavs to try and spurn other teams and offer big contracts to other players now. This whole thing is ridiculous yet entertaining, especially if the kidnapping rumor is true.

All this could have been avoided if Jordan simply had the balls to call Cuban and say I'm sorry I've changed my mind instead, we get a remake of the adventures of a teenage drama queen.

This all could have been avoided if the Clippers didn't hold DJ hostage and cause a scene on social media that made the league look pathetic.

no visible repercussion and they won't be on cuban's end. gm's won't like this and doc will have a hard time adding new pieces over the next few years.

this season is ripe though and they have a chance. griffin and reddick will be a little better. jordan will be a little older. pierce and stephenson strangely balance each other out. they remain a (barely) top five team in the league.

the mavs weren't going to be as good as the clippers if they added deandre so i'm happy he's staying. and fk the bitches who are whining about foul play, this is nothing of the sort. just a little peer pressure with jordan clearly needed since this is the right decision for him. i have every right to make that judgment unto his life.
