But as you have seen some in MMA, those pro wrestling throws don't really work that well if the receivers know how to properly avoid or take them.

you're talking about hong man choi. he physically dominated fedor until he won with i think a arm bar or leg lock. BJJ is the only way to beat physically superior opponents other than a lucky ass KO shot. its why BJJ is the cream of the crop fighting style, you can win against anybody with it.

those slams are more showy than actually hurting someone bad. when i used to do bicycle kicks in soccer i'd land on the back of my neck like that, shit hurt but not like how bad people think it hurts.
