He was a big part of the Spurs dynasty and a mainstay in the defensive teams. At least he played for the team. Miami retired Jordan :lol

Very important, underrated piece of 3 championships. How else would have guarded Kobe, Lebron, Nash and Dirk?

Dirk sht on him did u not see the 06 series where he was the best player in the whole series:lol :lol
Kobe did too most of the time and a healthy Manu defended Kobe and Nash better like in 05 against Phoenix where Manu outplayed MVP Nash and was the Spurs playoff and real FMVP. Honestly Manu was a better overall defender than Bowen, much better team defender, smarter rotations, more sound fundamentally, better positionally. Bowen was better m2m but he was very limited and had to rely on dirty tactics

Bruce Bowen is the man. Played 500 straight games. Guarded anyone from Iverson, Nash, Billups to McGrady, Lebron, and Dirk. He's also second all time in 3's made for the Spurs franchise, with 661 made three's, behind only Manu (1,272). He's a good sport for letting LMA keep his number

Nash averaged 23\4\11 on 52% shooting in that series, Amare 37\10 on 55% shooting
somehow Suns lost in 5 games, and they had HCA :kobe:

Aldridge should change his number.
Although the SAS frontcourt #'s 2, 12 and 21 will look pretty cool

Yep he played his role but highly overrated. Nice of him to let an all-star have his number. :oldlol:

Eh, I don't like this...
Why even retire numbers then if you're going to UN-retire it?

When you're one of the best defenders in the league for multiple seasons, lead the league in 3P%, and win help the team win 3 championships, I can understand the argument.
I don't like them un-retiring it though. Let LMA go back to #23 and maybe we can retire that one some day.

What's the story behind LMA's #12? Why does he need it THAT bad?

dynasties have to at least win back to back titles

I heard he'd let this happen but I didn't think Aldridge would actually do it. Jeez. Do they keep a banner up for Bowen or re-retire it later, potentially with two names?
