He holds the current record at 9,152 playoff minutes that he accumulated over 19 seasons. That's 301 more minutes than the next player, Kareem who accumulated 8,851 playoff minutes. If you take into consideration that the Spurs are locked in for another playoff berth next season, the gap will increase even more.

I always find that playoff minutes should always be taken into consideration when it comes to determining a players longevity. The further you play into the post season each year, the more of a toll it takes on your body, and the less time you have to rest before training camp.

If you divide Duncan's total playoffs minutes by 48 ( the total amount of minutes in an nba game), you get 190.6. That means that Tim Duncan has played over two full 82 game (48 minutes) seasons worth of playoff minutes. That says a lot about his longevity

tons of mileage for sure

what's impressive about Duncan is that he lead the Spurs in minutes played in the playoffs as recently as last season.. (well, the 13-14 season to be exact)

2013-2014 playoffs...minutes played:

Duncan - 752
Kawhi -- 736
Parker - 719
Diaw --- 604
Manu -- 586

It's going to take a very good player on a very good team(s) to surpass his record

If Lebron's yearly trips to the finals continue along with his heavy minutes, he's the best candidate

How many years has Lebron missed the playoffs? Not that that matters that much since he's gonna make the Finals almost every year in the weak East?

Combination of the weak east and that he's probably gonna be going about his business for years.

He's the only candidate right now.
