Meaning could he win ROY? He played 14 minutes in one regular season game last year. Anyone have any insight?

The answer is no.

Just looked it up. You're correct.

League says if you're part of an NBA team for your first year, that counts as your first year, whether you had season ending injury, little-to-no playtime or not.

How about Blake broke his Knee he was out and then was considered a rookie the next season.

That was pre-season I believe.

It was during preseason, not regular season.

Where are you guys getting your info? Links?

If im not mistaken Greg Oden got hurt in his first regular season NBA game and didn't play another minute that season.
when he returned the next year he was considered a rookie and was eligible to win R.O.Y.

Also Blake Griffin won R.O.Y his 2nd season in the NBA

He had microfracture surgery before preseason didn't play any games the season he was drafted

I think if you've played a single second in an NBA game, that's already considered a a "season" for you. Oden and Blake didn't play at all during their rookie years, while Randle managed to play a game.

He played minutes in the NBA so no.

It's not hard to understand. If you play a minute...a second in the regular season than that means you played that was your rookie year. Oden and Blake didn't play a minute in what was suppose to be their rookie year, that is why the following year when they finally played that was considered their rookie year. Easy!

This is incorrect and what a lot of posters are responding to. If a player is on the court after a jump ball of an NBA game he is a rookie.

So nobody has any links or knows what they are talking about?

Cuz Blake Griffin played in an NBA pre-season game, got hurt, didn't play the rest of the year, and came back his sophomore year and won R.O.Y

And, Greg Oden hurt his knee in the first regular season game of the year. It was not preseason. He sat out the whole year and then came back and was eligible to win R.O.Y

So I take it nobody actually knows what they are talmbout

You're wrong, buddy. It's so easy to double check, why didn't you google it before making a second post with false information?

Like others have already said, as long as you log in a minute of play time in your 1st season in the NBA, that is considered your rookie year. Oden and Griffin did not play at all the year they were drafted (during regular season, at least).

Sadly, I don't think Randle will be eligible.

I can't belive this is still being debate.. I'll explain this one more.

If you play any time after the start of the nba regular season that's considered your first season.

Noel, Griffin and Oden were all injured before the regular season started.

No one needs links for something that's common knowledge .
