He sucked though so his accolades mean nothing.

Hes probably 10-20. A bit vague I know. An MVP and 10 time All NBA first team though is incredibly. As well as all those championships.

People have to also take into account that the refs in his era were so much more quick to call traveling and palming. It was a more strict time for that.

There are 21 players locked in ahead of him in my rankings. He then fits in around 22nd to 27th.

So, approximately 25th.

Do you value actual basketball talent or accumulated accomplishments? He wasn't very talented at the game of basketball but nobody in his era was.

My pops was a huge basketball fan and he actually took me to watch the Celtics play in 62, by then Cousy had already declined but it's one of those moments I'll never forget. So I guess I've watched Cousy play more than anyone else on this board.

What difference does it make? Shouldn't his accolades speak for themselves? What, you want to apply the eye test to determine whether Cousy should be ranked ahead of Stockton or something?

I value his accomplishments since talent is a BS argument and means nothing.

I tried dribbling like him once in a one on one, straight up and down. It was actually harder and required more skills to have control of the ball. So I'm pretty sure he would be a great dribbler in this era.

Of course I want and I need to apply eye test when I want to rank someone.

Accolades? What if Horry had played in the 60's? There would be people of that era talking about him about how clutch he was, how many games he decided thanks to that and that he was a key part for his team in the X rings he won. I'm sure he would have a huge boost in all time rankings had that been the case.

I'm not saying Horry and Cousy are close as a players, and yes, I say this because of accolades. A very different thing is to rank a guy I haven't seen a game of properly among another great and more similar players. Was he better than Paul, Stockton, Nash? I need eye test for that, not just accolades.

How do you compare Stockton and Cousy, for instance? Do you just look at the accolades?

Like:
Cousy 6 rings, Stockton 0, advantage Cousy.
Cousy 1 MVP, Stockton 0, advantage Cousy.

And so on?

Would Horry have an MVP, 10 all-nba first teams and lead the league in some category for 8 seasons like Cousy did, and then get inducted in the HOF? Would he be considered top 10 all-time at some point like Cousy was? Would Horry have revolutionised the style of play like Cousy did, when he was the Magic Johnson of the 50s?

Because as nice a career as Horry had, he's not in the same conversation. Not in the slightest. You would be better off picking a role player from those 60s Celtics to compare Horry to.

When we talk about all-time great Celtics from the 50s/60s, it's Russell, Hondo, Cousy and Jones. Cousy was also great before Russell, and Hondo after.

That is why I said this
