...Then I won't stick up for him no more, my respect level for him will go REAL far down, especially if he have a healthy season and healthy teammates that should make the playoffs. Would you respect him that much ISH if he had all the tools and health to make playoffs but failed to do so again?

I respect Melos ability and that he is a HOF player.
I don't particularly care for him as a player though; don't like his playing style.

As you know Fresh, I'm done sticking up for him. Of course I will root for him if fans of other teams insult him because he plays for the team I root for...but I have no attachment to him. Playoffs or bust this year, as they don't have their pick.

Man keep sticking up for him. As long as you're not putting him over Bran :D
Seriously though I don't even like Melo and I imagine his laziness is maddening for you guys but there's not a whole lot he could have done with some of the teammates he's played with.

I feel you man. I kept sticking for him because I believed that he was gonna revitalize the knicks as one of the best teams again (happened in 2013 but became worse since then) especially since he's home but I'm tired of Waiting on this guy even tho the knicks front office are the main ones to blame:facepalm

His game just went against how you win titles. A black hole on offense who settled mostly for midrange shots. You don't win that way. You top dog has to be more. Great individual scorer but his game was all wrong for winning titles.
His best chance was in 2008-09. Some thought Denver wqs the better team over Lakers. Had they gotten past the Lakers, they would've probably beaten Orlando. Wonder how the world views him if he wins it in 2009. But NBA isn't built on what ifs.

If Carmelo is health they'll be a playoff team. But not easy. Who's the 2nd option. A teenage rookie? Calderon? Got some role players, but overall a pretty weak offseason. Good draft, terrible use of fa money.

1) ISH (majority) doesn't respect the East, so making the playoffs don't mean jack.
2) ISH (majority) cares a lot when a player wins a ring, especially as "the man".
Melo will make the HOF which will be the highlight of his career. Isn't likely to win a chip anytime soon if ever.
Knicks should be the favourites to make the playoffs out of their division, though. Everyone else took a far step back.

Yep. If I were commish Id try to move one or both of the Grizzlies and Pelicans to the east. I guess the Bucks and/or Pistons can go West. Probably Bucks for Grizzlies. But I like AD being in the east we need more stars in the east.

Truthfully they should of switched milwaukee and memphis a long time ago. Memphis is definitely east.

Celtics have a log jam of players and I don't think they'll all fit to make a strong run for the division. Raptors have a lot of pieces moving and I don't think they'll be as good last year unless Lowry and DeRozan stay healthy and play like they did in 2014.
Division is weak. Knicks have the best player in that division when healthy and he has rim protectors and rebounders. That should be good enough to get there.

Yeah the east is a bit sad. I see Orlando winning somewhere between 36-42 games and still making the play offs. It's a stepping stone year for us though, we will get stomped first round but it's just a sign we are moving in to a competing mode and we'll try to attract the vets we need next off season while our youth develops. Our line up still has so many question marks on how the rotations will be and who will step up but there's a lot of positives there.

They will be in the playoffs this season. Unless Melo gets hurt there's no way they're going to miss out in that shitty conference. At this point Melo HAS to feel the pressure to prove his worth, right? Then again, who knows. He may just be that lazy.

With the Knicks luck, this will be the season Melo tries super hard, but the rest of the east will magically become unshitty and the Knicks will still suck.

True but Grizzlies need Another go to player to give them a chance to make the finals or win a ring. If they were east then bron would have a hard ass time making the finals just to lose for sure.

Not necessarily. I thought they had a chance against the Warriors this year but Conley and Allen missed games.

I think they already had a spot for Harvey. I could see them bringing in a big man who performs in summer league. Unless they have a buyer for Frye and are clearing room to move him as he is the one picked to be gone at the all star break to a competitor.

Well the East wasn't too bad from say 2008-2012 or so? There were Big 3/4 Celtics, Brans Cavs and later Big 3 Heat, D12 led Magic, and the Bulls were very good in 2011 and 2012. The rest wasnt great but better than 5-8 seeds in the east were last year iirc. And that was still 4 legit teams at one time in the east.

I don't blame Melo for being lazy, given the roster around him.
He has accepted the title of 'loser'.
He will never win a ring as 'the man', and he probably will never win one at all.
:confusedshrug: He should focus on his personal brand.

NY is playing in one of the worst divisions (or the worst). second place is a lock and looking to NY roster now....with Melo having a solid year without injury they will pass raptors as well. so nearly a playoff lock due to division champion.

If you're calling Melo lazy, then you obviously haven't been watching.
My only beef with Melo is his lack of trust in teammates and triangle. And I can't blame him too much, either. It's make or break this season. If they fail to make playoffs, he will demand a trade next year.
I won't cry about it.

After the Knicks, they should be 2nd in line for the Atlantic Division. Unless the Knicks are injured, the C's should cap the crown.
No doubt should be a playoff team.
