Are you guys being serious? 3m a season is a bargain for him, especially since he is the type of player who can blow up (as we've seen against the Spurs). Especially when you consider that 3m is only 3% of next years 90m cap, great value.

Nice signing, he was crucial in some of their wins against spurs.

Clippers. Stay. Winning.
Glen. Stays. Winning.
Owner that looks like Hank from Breaking Bad. Stays. Winning.
Chris, Blake and Deandre. Stay. Winning.
Clippers. Stay. W. I. N. N. I. N. G.
pretty sure whatever he left on the table to stay with the Clippers will be added to his fathers next contract signing.

$3m a year for a kid who has shown he can get hot coming off the bench? Probably one of the smartest GM Doc moves the team has managed.

Clippers is the best spot for him to succeed. There is competition and athletes on the clippers to make him better.
I believe Doc will let him go or trade him in 2 years when's hes 25. Not because he sucks but because he will have grown up and ready to make his next contract.

The media hate on Austin Rivers is hilarious, yet predictable, and most on ISH fall for it.
Rivers is a good player who will have a long career. Just lol at how everyone is ridiculing this kid. He has very limited NBA experience playing a back up to one of the best players in the NBA, in the bright lights of LA, being coached by his dad(who is also the gm).
Everyone has seen Rivers (sometime hilarious)mistakes on the big stage. However, don't think for one second that this isn't just adding fuel to the fire. Add that to the motivation from the undeserved hate because his Dad is the GM and I believe this kid is going to get better and better. We saw flashes of what he could do in the Spurs series.

So Clippers have one of the best offseasons of any team AND Glenn gets to retain his son?
Rivers. Family. Stays. Winning.

As much as I dislike Doc, he's right about seeing nepotism happen all the time in the front office. I mean how many times have we seen coaches hire their sons as assistant coaches? Owners making their children integral parts of their management? It happens all the time. The only reason we pick on Doc is that it's more newsworthy because Austin is a basketball player. If he hired Jeremiah to be a defensive assistant coach, I bet it wouldn't get as much publicity.
But it happens a lot. As long as Austin can demonstrate some value then I have no problem with it. $3M for a 7th or 8th man who's only 22/23 and has shown the ability to become a spark plug scorer off the bench for a contender ain't that bad.

People here are shitting on nepotism instead of the player. He's not great, but the amount he's getting is pretty cheap, and he has already shown that he can contribute. So people are just loling at anything now. This forum is reaching new lows.

People fail to mention Danny Ainge offering his son Assistant GM even though he failed as a Development league coach with a sub 500 record.

Good signing on a reasonable price. He did contribute nicely off the bench and he's still young. Clips has a role for him and I think he fits right in.

Well, they OWN the place and have to pay the bills. They can make their house cat GM for all I care. Same applies to Rivers I guess.. as long as Ballmer is happy to pay the bill, Doc can pay his kid the max for all I care. Long as it's not on my team

There's nothing wrong with this.
Austin is worth the money. He knows the system and will probably be a bit improved next season.

I wasn't a fan of getting Rivers initially, but he grew on me and this is definitely a good signing, especially how cheap it is compared to other backups. He was inconsistent, but he has shown that he's not afraid of big moments, and now that the Clippers have Lance, Rivers can go back to being more of a scoring option instead of a facilitator.

Clips are over the cap so can only sign people for the minimum or re-sign their own agents.
$3m/year isn't bad... he is an okay 7th/8th man but has the potential to be a good 6th man (had three 15+ point games in last playoffs).
He has a quick first step and good handles. His jumper isn't broke, just needs improvement.

Rivers was one of the worst players in the league this year and in previous years.
He had a couple of good games in the playoffs but that's nothing he'll be able to sustain unless he improves significantly. For every good performance comes 5 bad ones.
Unless he's gotten alot better over the summer this is a negative for them and will cost them wins.
