View Full Version : Rockets sign Marcus Thorton to vet min.
Nice pick up. If they can keep this WCF team together, and add a piece here or there (scoring off the bench, looking at you Marcus), they're going to be back and better than last season.
With a healthy team (Dwight missed 41 games, DMo missed 11 games and the entire playoffs, Jones missed 49 games, Beverley missed 26 games and the entire playoffs), this team will end up with 60 wins.

Yep, will be interesting to see how they match-up against GS and SAS when healthy. Spurs got much better and GS will being back the Finals squad. I'm assuming the Rockets end up with a top 3 seed in the West, maybe top 2 depending on whether the Spurs have their normal rut in the regular season.

Until I see KD back to his old self I can't really project them as a title contender. Foot injuries are tough injuries to put behind a player his size. I really hope he can but there is just so much uncertainty.

Morey's having a good summer. This is great value for a guy who can drop buckets when he's hot. If he's off, you don't have to play him.

I'd even go so far as to say Houston, with the re-signing of Smith, are deeper than OKC.
The Rox second roation, as of now, is:
J. Terry
M. Thorton
C. Brewer
T. Jones
J. Smith/C. Capela
That's a pretty good rotation for bench players.
I think GS finishes as the #1 seed. LAC/OKC/SAS/ and HOU will all finish within a few games of each other.
But as I said earlier, Houston won 56 games with 3 of their first 6 missing 1/3 of the season. They'll break 60 this season.

Durant would prolly score 60 on Rockets..who can stop him? Our squad is compete we'll be invicible next season.

He's a solid vet, but I was thinking you guys would be able to scoop up somebody for cheap to back up Bev. He re-upped with Chicago, but I thought Aaron Brooks would have been a nice addition. If you guys gave him a 1-year mini-MLE, I think he would have bounced the Bulls. Are you saving the the mini-MLE for Josh Smith?

Terry is still up in the air. I think Houston would be better off using the MLE on another PG.
Smith is still getting paid by Detroit, so I think in the end he'll stay on a team where he is welcomed, and allowed to do what Smith does coming off the bench.
I think he may have had a number in his head, but I doubt any team will offer JS something close to what he thinks hes worth. So again, the fact that Detroit is still paying him works out well for Houston given his close ties to nearly everyone on the team now.
And as I pointed out, Houston was the #2 seed despite being ravaged by injuries and roster moves. They'll break 60 wins this season, and I would imagine Smith would want to play on a contending team.
Durant would prolly score 60 on Rockets..who can stop him? Our squad is compete we'll be invicible next season.
Ariza is pretty good at defense I hear.

Very good pick up on a bargain price. Rockets need this kind of players off the bench. A wildcard that you can go when they are hot.

They needed scoring off the bench.. Though Sam Dekker could've been that guy!
