I read, last month, that he underwhelmed backing up Tomic, whom the Jazz also wanted to sign. Not sure how good he'll be, but may as well utilize those draft rights at some point.

I've been hearing about this guy for years. Kinda sucks that we gave him away (if he turns out to be good)

just a big body? I don't think he even plays many minutes in europe anymore does he? I remember him being promising a few years back but he's older now.

He's solid, not a big prospect but he can do some things.
He's no way better than Tomic, but he can give 5-10 minutes backing up at C.

I feel pretty bad for the guy really I mean what if he has like a job, wife and 6 screaming kids. He finally sits down after not have a moment to himself for what seems like months and then you guys go and troll him :lol
I mean c'mon the guys house could be burning down around him and with his last breath before the smoke takes him, he'd still be furiously refreshing threads like  before finally collapsing in the arms of his blow up V-Span...

Looks pretty skilled but way to thin. Hope the Jazz know what they're doing with him as their back-up.

He's absolutely huge.
The only thing he is good at though is finishing on pick and roll. That's it. I would compare him to a much bigger version of Splitter, but without Splitter's defense.
And no, he never won any Euroleague MVP you ****ing assholes.
And yes Maga, he is way worse than Tomic. If the Jazz think he is anything close to Tomic, they are completely delusional.
The one thing I always did like about him though, was every time he played against Big Sofo, he got viciously dunked on........like dunk of the year material...absolutely EVERY TIME.

He's 6-10 with a 7-2 wingspan.....you either have an IQ around 50, or you have a lame trolling shtick.

He's actually fortunate to make it on the big league and bang with the real pros.
Quite a few of them Euro MVPs can't even make it trying out on the summer league.:confusedshrug:
Pleiss shot like 59% FG at Minor league, soft but efficient.:applause:
Luis Scola shot 69% FG at the minors way back.:oldlol:

That is the SAME EXACT LYING BULLSHIT all these other trolls like Rooster, Milbuck, lazeruss etc. are also claiming.
It is NOT the same thing. You LIED. They are LYING. You continue to LIE. They continue to LIE.
SHUT THE **** UP before I have a serious discussion with Jeff about this once and for all, because it is ridiculous trolling, lying and making up ridiculous shit here over and over.
There have been so many threads about this where Euroleague fans said over and over this is a MADE UP BULLSHIT LIE and yet you ASSHOLES keep claiming it.
SHUT THE **** UP NOW
This is ENOUGH with this same lying troll here about something that is FACTUALLY FALSE and a blatant lie that you guys have been telling for thousands of posts now.
STOP IT
Otherwise it really is time to get all the Euroleague fans here and send a message to Jeff about it.

i remember simon going on and on about this guy. and now they traded his rights?Gave up his rights in the Kanter trade. He's the back-up to a guy that the Jazz drafted a couple years back, Tomic, and they really wanted him to make the jump to the NBA.
Tomic used the threat of leaving for the NBA as leverage in re-signing with his club in Spain. So the Jazz took his backup lol.

Looks pretty skilled but way to thin. Hope the Jazz know what they're doing with him as their back-up.Tomic would have definitely been better, but I guess why not try out Pleiss and see how he does as a reserve.
I wouldn't expect him to get much burn anyway. If Booker's not traded and Lyles gets any PT, Pleiss won't get many opportunities this upcoming season imo. I guess it also depends on how much development time the Jazz want to dedicate to the young players. I doubt Pleiss is leaving Europe to spend any time in the D-League.

Dude is 7'3" and made 66 of 90 three pointers in a shooting drill? I know making them in a game is different than just shooting in the gym, but WTF??
If he can play even reasonable position defense, if he is even a decent rebounder, and if he is even half the shooter those numbers suggest he is, the Jazz might be on to something here. Mistake eraser/lane clogger on D, stretch 5 on O.
Nice to have a 7'3" guy to put in when your 7'1" starter needs a break...

Because they should be one of the best teams in the league and they need somebody capable.

They just picked up Booker's option. Don't think they plan on trading him. They are saying Pleiss is the back-up 5. Lyles looks like their best option at the 5 at the moment but he probably belongs in Idaho.

Too many ifs. Did you see him? He needs to get a lot stronger it looks like to me. Gobert hits 3's in practice. Rudy got pushed around last year and he looks like Shaq in comparison to this guy.

Because they should be one of the best teams in the league and they need somebody capable.Good point. It seems they either were expecting to land Pleiss or were content to hold onto Booker and play Lyles in the NBA this year. Most of the good back-up options have been snatched up. Assuming they now stand pat and want to maximize chance of winning, I think Favors will act as the de facto back-up C. Play either Booker or Lyles at PF when Gobert comes out, with Pleiss getting the rest of the C minutes, if any are available.

Idk if they'll send Lyles to the D-League or how serious they'll entertain that option, but considering Burke & Exum didn't play a ton of games in the D-Leage, I'm guessing Lyles follows suit. Pure speculation, but Jazz haven't seemed to use their D-League team for their recent high picks.

I'm sure Favors will play the 5 but they still need a 4th big for at least a few minutes every game. Last year after the Kanter trade they pulled Favors early so they could bring him back in when Rudy got a rest. They still needed a 4th guy and ideally you don't stagger two of your best players. They could still get a guy with their cap space in a trade but it doesn't sound like they plan on doing that.

You're probably right but unlike the past two years they aren't tanking unless Gobert gets hurt. They need to use their D-league team.

i saw him many times in the german BBL. he is ok, but nothing special, even being so tall. he is a good shooter for his size but slow and not strong. he is a good 4th big for practise and 5min per game. but maybe he surprises me.

Big men that can shoot are common place in Europe. No one in Europe even gets why it is some kind of fascination in the USA. Being able to shoot and pass is just a basic skill in Europe, regardless of the size of the player.
It's only a USA basketball thing that the belief is that you suddenly cannot shoot or pass, or shoot free throws if you are tall.
It's not even considered anything unusual at all actually. Most 7 footers in Europe are very good shooters and passers.
There is actually no logical explanation for why big men in USA can't shoot.
