For my money I like Mchale, AWESOME low post moves. I'm currently trying to copy his moves so I can use them for my weekly pick up game. D12 would BE WISE to let Mchale school him on low post moves.

They were two different type of players, but I'd take Mchale

McHale all day. Worthy is not worthy.

McHale gets overrated. Great at scoring but a known black hole who wouldn't/couldn't pass out of the post well and was a pretty subpar rebounder. His stats are inflated. When you match him up with others per 100 possessions, he looks like a prime Pau Gasol-level player(which is still great).
Anyway, I'd say he was pretty much better than Worthy. Who I think Gasol is also better than. I think I've made a Gasol v. Worthy thread already.

McHale. Worthy highly overrated.

McHale was a superior player imo.
Of course in certain situations/teams, Worthy would thrive better, just like the up tempo Lakers with Magic. But McHale on most teams is just the better player and more impactful.

Worthy is an all-around better athlete than that slow white Celtic.

McHale > Worthy > Parish
The Chief shits on both in terms of longevity though, and I think James sustained his peak for a bit longer than Kevin.

A blackhole that led the league in fg% at times and a high efficiency scorer throughout his career... while having great post moves ? Give him the ball and chuck away.

I'll take the one who a) has a finals MVP b) always had huge games in the biggest moment. Mchale is a nice player but he wasn't a guy you can build around, he was more of a pest than a star

Who built around James Worthy?

Who built around James Worthy?
So if LeBron was drafted by a team with Chris Paul and Tim Duncan and won rings and a FMVP you'd ask the same question?
Just because no one did, doesn't mean it wasn't possible.

So James Worthy is a Lebron-level talent now?

McHale at his peak was unguardable on offense and an All-NBA Defender, Worthy was great, but he never was feared like McHale. Some teams had a tougher time with McHale than they did with Bird.

I was planning on making an argument for Worthy, but when I really thought about it... I didn't come up with much. Worthy was a better athlete, better open-court player, and better passer. The problem is, McHale was pretty much better at everything else.
