Dude I KNOW we've all sat around and talked about this "only being the summer league" but I see nothing in this kid so far. I'm watching dudes like Mudiay, and Okafor etc. going out there and showing more than flashes and this Russell here just completely underwhelms. You just start to wonder...

A Dallas home SL game was recently blacked out here too on NBA TV so I'm guessing that you maybe should be able to find it on some other channel locally.

Russell has looked terrible in the Summer League. Usually with a prospect you look for things they do well even if they don't put up numbers but honestly I haven't seen anything to remark about. Not his athleticism, not his ball handling, and his passing was supposed to be elite already... that's been the worst part of his game, kid is a turnover machine.

Maybe he'll figure it out during the rest of the summer/training camp. I really think they should require guys to stay in school at least 2, maybe 3 seasons like back in the day. Too many raw, unproven projects instead of NBA ready players out there. Guys come into the league nowadays not even really knowing how to play basketball, they just get by on potential.

Russell is like the opposite of a guy drafted on potential since his raw physical measurements are pretty mediocre.. hes one of the few skilled players drafted not just based on size or speed or length. It takes time to learn how to apply skill and pace.. at least he understands it unlike the Gerald greens of the nba.. just needs to figure it out fully.



Brett Favre first pro season he had five snaps for two picks, three incompletions.. sometimes guys who like to take risks have trouble at first adjusting but they can always break through.

So, Dallas took a wild shot, and air-balled it, Randle didn't box out Tyler, Tyler got an easy layup.

1.8 seconds remaining, down by 2, Russell is inbounding, no real play developing, he hands the ball to Randle who isn't even in stride who is forced to shoot a 3 from 35 feet out, that I don't believe he even got off in time.

I can't imagine that was the play that was drawn up, he was just close to a 5 second violation and panicked. Should have called a time out if they had one.
