From 86' to 97' - and god knows when Bonds started using steroids. He never hit over 30 his first 5 seasons. Never had back to back 40+ HR seasons; than in 2000 at age 35 he hit 49, 73, 46, 45, 45.

Griffey after 32 was plagued with injuries and his career numbers still stack up with Bonds who in large part inflated them doing steroids.

Griffey came into the league hitting 40+ homeruns and declined due to injuries and age. Bonds came into the league never known as this big power hitter; yet he hit majority of his homeruns after the age of 33 (during an era where guys like Rodriguez, Clemens, McGuire, Sosa did steroids and their numbers were inflated dramatically).

But whatever; no one will ever convince me that a cheater was a better baseball player than Ken Griffey Jr.

He was the example of how baseball should be played during an era of cheaters. Sweetest swing in baseball; most complete baseball player in the 90's.

MLB didn't start testing until 2001 I believe even though they banned the substance in 1991.

Griffey could have hit over 900 HR if he used steroids. Would have prevented all those injuries and increased his power dramatically.

I actually think Bonds started using them in early 90's once he realized the league officials never tested anyone until it became an epidemic in the late 90's; they were forced to do so when morons like McGuire, Sosa and Bonds started tarnishing the league's reputation.

As far as I'm concerned Griffey was the closest to breaking the record of 61 in the 90's; he hit 56, legitimately.

There's this thing called INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Is it cheating in football? Is it cheating in basketball? Odds are Jordan was doing it too. He had some clear signs that any seasoned drug user could see. What about most of the NFL? ...

We can't go around condemning people without PROVING GUILT. There are ethics involved in proving guilt. A system. We can't just ignore the method.

Uhm, I think you're implying that his stats and accomplishment aren't warranted of being in the top 10. That I agree with.

I'm talking about his skill set. His peak years from 89 - 99 are as good as anyone. His overall play is what sets him apart from many players.

In his first 10 years, prior to becoming injury prone, he was a 10 time all-star, MVP and 7 time silver slugger. In his first 10 years...

Very few players had the overall skill set that Griffey had. Willie Mays and Barry Bonds come to mind; who had the fielding, speed, contact hitting, power and arm.

Based on talent alone; he is most definitely one of the ten best players ever.
