He's still athletic when it matters and has a quick release.

Why would a 7-3 guy need to take a jump shot over a set shot especially from 3? I mean wtf

Don't really know why a lanky 7 foot guy would need to jump really high to shoot a 3.

His release is slick as phuck doe.

That is great though.

1) Less chance of him rolling an ankle coming down. (Dirk suffered that crap all through the years with guys like Bowen that would slide under his feet on a jumper.)

2) Makes the shot more accurate late in games because set shots require less energy to shoot. (BIG reason why Larry won the 3 point contest back when there were 3 rounds. By the 3rd round a lot of jump shooters were huffing nd puffing and Larry with his set shot was fresher....)

Brunch@Five

also gives him an advantage over smaller players who don't get the time to make up the height difference with a quick jump.

if he would really jump, his balls would always be in the defenders mouth, no homo

He's gonna be a mismatch for everyone. He can shoot over everyone and if they put a big man on him, he could drive around him. And to top it off, his defense is pretty good. Knicks future is on the rise

Why the **** would a 7''3 guy need lift on his jumpshot? :biggums: besides there are plenty of guards who don't get a lot of lift off their jumpshot either and they seem to be doing fine.

ralph_i_el

Except his release is high and quick, and if you play him close he'll be able to drive by a lot of bigs.

This should eventually give him a really good pump fake if he can hit shots consistently. I don't know how good a passer he is but it could be a real problem if he has a sick pump in his game and can then drive.

6 footer Chris Paul barely jumps on his jumpers and he's the best mid-range shooter in the league. Porzingis is 7'3 dumbarse

The farther away he was from the basket, the less Larry Bird would jump when he shot. He said it helped him maintain balance.

He's actually pretty athletic. he reminds me of a cross between Dirk and Gasol.

He has the passion for the game like Dirk does. very enthusiastic. Has the body build of Pau though with the ability to block shots just by wingspan and timing.

He's shown defensive potential. Porz is going to be an allstar level player by 2017. I believe this first year we will see 2-3 20 point games and some struggles with bigger players.

By year 3, this guy will be 10-15 pounds heavier and stronger averaging 19 and 10 with 2 blocks per game.

This. We're not talking about a 5'7 guy here. He will shoot right over smaller players and blow by bigger ones straight to the basket.

Knicks drafted a serious potential matchup nightmare.

Yeah, just like Dirk. If he doesn't have to jump, you have much less of an indication if he's actually shooting or faking. He's already beat a few guys off the fake on the perimeter in SL.

Literally 8 posts and 10 mins later:

I was just upset initially. Now I am excited after it sunk in, that he could be Dirk part 2

7'3'' people should probably avoid jumping period. Ralph Sampson aside...who was damn near a small forward at times.

Kid can shoot. And hes mobile as **** for his size. And he wants it....

Hard not to root for him.

I don't know yet... but he could be.

All the Knicks fans who booed him at the draft should hang their heads in shame though.

Most of those fans at the draft are Melo fans. Don't understand rebuilding; want to win NOW while he's in the building. It took a Jax hiring for this (Zinger signing) to happen... Dolan took a leap of faith in his foolish ways.

I admit I was unhappy with the Zinger pick. I wanted Mudiay and a crack at making some noise. But after about an hour, I realized that the league is changing and this kid could be really special. We dug Mozgov outta nowhere, and he's turned out pretty good.

The problem here is generalization. The weaker-minded see a lot of noobs at the Barclay Center and fob it off as Knick fans being idiots. I don't think all Laker fans went out and burned cars when they were winning ships.

Does that even matter? He's a 7 footer, no one is blocking his shot. From that video his release is silky smooth. Reminds me of KD a bit.
