View Full Version : Finals loss = conference finals loss in other conference

If Lebron played in the West, he'd have exactly 2 Finals appearances for his entire career (since he's 2/6 and therefore lost 4 times to WC opponents).

That's why you can't lose in the Finals - because someone can always say "that means you wouldn't make the Finals if you were in the other conference".

And they'd be right.

For example, take the 1989 Bulls - MJ led this would-be lottery team to the ECF, where they lost to the champion Bad Boys in 6 games.. Taking the champs to 6 games is a better accomplishment than beating the 2015 Hawks or the old, Ben Wallace-less Pistons (especially since MJ's team was a 6 seed and Lebron's teams were 2 seeds).

So does a conference finals win in the West = a championship then? 08 Lakers with a three peat, Durant has a chip and Spurs actually repeated in 13, 14? Impressive.

So theirs 16 teams in the west how would that work. These hypothetical scenarios are so stupid.

Damn right!

LeBron taking the champs to 6 without his two other best players is absolutely incredible.

Dude leap frogged larry and magic.

So you're saying he'd be 2/2? 100% finals win rate? Damn, LeBron wishing he played in the West.

So is this team

Delladova
Smith
Shumpert
Thompson
Mozgov

A championship team?

And LeBron beat the Hawks and then took the champion Warriors to 6 games

That logic only applies to the East.

Both Lebron and MJ led a lottery team to 6 games against the champs (Lebron vs. Warriors in 2015... and MJ vs. Pistons in 1989)

Except MJ finished the deal - that's the difference.. MJ won a championship with that exact same lottery team.

Otoh, Lebron's teams fail to improve under his leadership and suboptimal style, so he isn't capable of getting a lottery team over the hump and winning a championship like MJ did.

Consequently, Lebron team-hops to find sufficient talent to win a ring.. He'll do it again next summer when the Cavs fall short again, and he opts out.. (in b4 he team hops again next summer, and stans formulate new excuses for him)

You really think any of Mj's championship teams would be lottery teams without him?:facepalm

Here's what we know for a fact - both MJ and Lebron led lottery teams to 6 games versus the champs (Lebron in 2015 and MJ in 1989).

But only MJ led that EXACT SAME TEAM to a championship - the Bulls 1989 roster was identical to their 1991 roster.

Without MJ's DPOY-level defense and 33/8/8 on 54% helping the Bulls to 47 wins and the 6 seed in 1989, the Bulls would've been lottery heading into the 1990 season, instead of ECF veterans and 1 season away from starting a 3-peat.

Btw, how does DPOY-level defense and 33/8/8 on 54% (which is better than anything Lebron has done) only gets your team 47 wins??.. For the eighty-millionth time - MJ played verifiably-superior competition (https://usatthebiglead.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/lebron-hate.jpg?w=1000).

"Superior competition" is not just lip service and something you say - the superior competition actually HAS AN EFFECT - in this case, the effect of superior comp is that DPOY-level defense and goat offense (33/8/8/54) only gets you 47 wins.. Meanwhile, Lebron's inferior stats and performance garner him more wins because his competition is far weaker.
